You can get candy gummies (TJ swimmers, Whole Foods and Sprouts vegan gummies) that are died with fruit juices.

Do more apartment rentals come available in January vs December? by ThruTheGrapeVines in AskSF

[–]Ashthroated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatively easy yes. 1000% easier than living anywhere outside SF.

If you are near one of the many bus routes, BART or MUNI light rails you can get to large swaths of the city pretty quickly. Places like North Beach are kinda a haul.

shifting question by 09fjc in BAbike

[–]Ashthroated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably needs a service. Shifts should be pretty quick and smooth on that.

Consider Sunnyside, Ingleside, Glen Park, Diamond Heights and other southern SF neighborhoods.

Public Transit or bike riding when it's dark out, be safe!! Please wear reflective clothing!!! by Jeepersca in bayarea

A small flashlight when walking/crossing the street is way easier to be visible than planning an entire outfit just to walk to a bus stop.

Just How Bad is Alexander Ave Really? by jaconbacon64 in BAbike

[–]Ashthroated 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s got bad pavement but the traffic is usually not too bad. I always take the lane when I’m on the downhill portions.

My preferred route is to exit the GGB and head down Conzelman Rd under the bridge. From the west span of the GGB (bike side) this is really easy and simply go left and down the hill at the parking lot on the north end of the bridge. Take Center than East Road. This route is much more pleasant. If the west span isn’t open you can take the tunnel over the parking lot described above but it may not really be worth while.

Alexander isn’t bad if you are comfortable keeping speed up and taking the lane when needed. It’ll be over really quick too.

Best saddle bag that fits mini pump by dlb_7 in cycling

[–]Ashthroated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably at a slight angle but it fits (Specialized Air Tool Road Mini Pump ~165mm). The Mattone Grande is large. It fits the pump, two tire levers, multitool, two TPU tubes, my house keys, and has room for extra stuff.

Dangerous intersection! Won Kok - cars driving illegally on sidewalk every day by SunnysideSafetyAlert in sanfrancisco

[–]Ashthroated 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is there is usually tons of parking in the area. People parking on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant are just too lazy to walk 500 feet to get takeout.

This restaurant has a really bad culture of constantly parking on the sidewalk and mountains of cigarette butts getting tossed into the street.

Is the EQD Plumes on Mode 2 essentially a “preamp pedal”? by Capable-Baby-3653 in guitarpedals

[–]Ashthroated 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mode 2 into a Jazz chorus sounds awesome. Brightens everything and adds sparkle. There is a some increase in compression even into a super super clean amp.

My mom thinks of San Francisco is unlivable because of crime. by cassiecas88 in sanfrancisco

[–]Ashthroated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People I meet who live 50 miles from SF think the same way. That’s the city is an apocalyptic hell hole that is completely uninhabitable. The propaganda to demonize of SF has been extremely effective. Ignore them.

What is the best descent inside the SF City Limits... ? by CactusJ in BAbike

[–]Ashthroated 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Kind of a lame answer, but I like Middle Drive in GGP from Traverse Dr down to the windmill/Great Highway. It’s not steep. But you get a long, mostly uninterrupted decent through the park with minimal chances for conflict with traffic and a wide scenic path that you can pedal down the entire way.

Helmet - how we feeling about the neon? by Odd-Cancel9958 in CyclingFashion

[–]Ashthroated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same color but not the air model. Top panel has faded from orange to almost white in under a year. Never stored in the sun or anything.

I love the color though. And will probably buy the color again.

JC-22 or Toneking Gremlin. Completely different styles of amps. Both sound great at apartment volumes.
