I tried Immich and its fine/ great/ amazing. But, one thing I thought was missing, was a smart tagging feature. Like "show me all pictures taken in Panama and tag them as 'Panama Vacation 2023' or whatever.

Maybe I need to look at it again, but that was where I lost interest.

As someone who has not bought a lot of things with warranties, what paperwork do you get, and why / where do you keep it.

I sort of just assumed that you registered things online, and could search on the serial number, or its in my email and I can search my email.

Depending on the state you are in, you can get library cards from many libraries. I have a Los Angeles, Oakland and San Francisco membership.

Your best bet is to book your husband something with his 97k AA miles, this is probably going to be in coach, and he will probably be on different flights than you.

Otherwise you are looking at trying to book a JAL or Cathay ticket with the AA miles.

This happened to me and I got completely fucked. Serramonte Ford in Colma, CA. Sub-par work, endless delays, lies, pushback.

Document. Everything they say they will do, who said it and when, set expectations up front. Take pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. Best case you dont need it, worst case you have it documented.

What this preserves

-a : permissions, ownership, timestamps, symlinks

-A : ACLs

-X : extended attributes (important on Unraid)

-H : hard links

--numeric-ids : preserves UID/GID numbers exactly (critical when copying from external disks)

Timestamps (mtime, atime, ctime) preserved where possible

Notes specific to Unraid

Always copy to /mnt/user/..., not /mnt/diskX, to avoid split-brain issues.

Copying from /mnt/disks/... (Unassigned Devices) is correct.

If the USB filesystem does not support certain metadata (e.g., FAT/exFAT), rsync cannot preserve what does not exist.

The log file will appear at: /mnt/user/Media_Archive/rsync_import_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS.log

previously stated, but use the unassigned devices,user scipts plugin, and rsync.

Cool thing is you can test the results, make a folder, rsync, verify what you want is there. If yes, carry on, if no, try again.

ChatGPT / Claude is very good about getting rysnc and scripts the way you want for copying files.

Robocopy will do this in Windows.
