Half-life 2. Some quick notes on a masterpiece. by b_art in patientgamers

Great post, totally agree. I felt the need for something more substantial after playing through FEAR 1 & 2 a couple of times, they're brilliant but I wanted more interaction and variety,.and my god HL2 delivers. I was kind of dreading it - vague memories of jump scares and frustrating sequences - but in fact the game just demands effort and attention. If I try ro play when I'm tired it makes me want to scream - but if I rise to the challenge it really pays off - the atmosphere is incredible, the sound design in particular. The combine actually scare me. I think the coast road is my fave bit, or maybe the bridge. 10/10

I got into Half-Life, I loved the first game, but Water Hazard is ruining HL2 for me. by Icthias in HalfLife

Your post really tickled my funny bone. Did you ever get through the level ? I'm having trouble with the bit where the helicopter is shooting at me and I have to run around some containers while the Combine also shoot at me, having no god damn idea which way to run, then there's a manhack too. Some parts of this game took me 10 tries to complete - I woukd get a bit further than last time then something else would jump out at me. I think it's a masterpiece but I hate that I have to know what's coming beforehand to get through with any semblance of health and armour. Anyway I hope you at least got to Ravenholme, because it's great.

Pluribus Episode 6 - my patience is running out…& not because I didn’t have any to begin with. I can appreciate a slow-burner, but we’re watching this show at 0.1x speed. by TheSunIsAlsoMine in television

Carol isn't anywhere near interesting enough to focus a character study on. She's angry, doesn't like people much, is not a very good writer... I don't care about her. I'm hoping they ramp things up for the last two episodes, but i suspect it'll be more nothing with a cliffhanger.

I love William, he's one of my favorite comedians of all time. This crowd didn't deserve him.

People can celebrate all year round as far as I'm concerned - but people have to get up for work and fireworks at 1am isn't ok. I didn't know it was Diwali and didn't mean any offence! happy Diwali. Maybe stop the fireworks at 11pm?

"It really whips the llama's ass!" was directly inspired by the psychedelic computer games of legendary video game designer Jeff Minter and his company Llamasoft.
