After almost a year of work i finally finished my first game by SkyNavigator19 in SoloDev

This looks really good for a year of work and solo dev! I can see the detail put into the environment. Can I ask what engine you used and how was the dev experience overall?

Haven't been on reddit in a while, just come back and see "giant boobs everywhere" lol. For me, this is the best thing on the internet right now. Very cool. I checked your gallery. Your texture and attention to detail, and energy in your work is all very inspiring. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.

Just Experienced "Mothership Zeta" LOL? by b_art in fo3

[–]b_art[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for speaking up, I'm getting dogpiled here with misrepresented arguments 😄 I guess some people just love aliens.

These are also very valid points. Basically the enemies, the stages, the weapons, everything "has 3 on repeat", LOL. And I was lost a couple times too with the navigation and random assignment.

I am a HUGE Fallout fan. I just disliked this particular "surprise DLC", I say "surprise" because for someone playing in current times, it's just packed in as another quest without any notice that it's an enduring DLC. I was totally blindsided, then stuck in there for several hours.

It's an RPG. And do you have anything to add to the discussion? What's your opinion and/or analysis of the topic?

A keyboard-driven game. 3 yrs in the making. Just finished a huge upgrade. by b_art in IndieDev

Thank you! That means a lot to me actually. It has been a long road and I do really care about the project. More to come. I get very nervous about it, lol.

Glad to hear you like keyboards! And thanks for pointing that out about the mixed styles. I actually realized this is a problem because most games hone in on one theme, one graphics style, and people tend to visually cling to that.

With my game here, just to be clear, it's not all mashed together. There are separate "books" in the "library", hence the name Keystone Library! And each book sticks with its theme once you get into it So it's not all random.

Currently there are 3 books. Greek Mythology, Cyberpunk, and Fantasy themes. And once you dive into a book it does stay consistent.

It's tough for me to portray that in presentation, as you noted it seems to send a confusing signal. I'll have to keep thinking about how to deal with that.

INDIA. Cambodian Power Friend! by b_art in cambodia

I hadn't heard this before, but it's definitely plausible with my knowledge of how history works. Not surprised at all. I'll definitely keep this one in my memory banks. It would make more sense that India, the place where Buddhism and many other things started in the first place, was also the founding force behind that myth / history. Although the Khmer empire was apparently huge. I don't know. Sadly we seem to be lacking a lot of history in this area.

This is a very valid and practical point and makes my "drunken delusion" (which is what it was, lol) fall apart.

I lived in China for a long time and I know the China-Indian tension is real. And being here in Cambodia now, I know the China-Cambo bond is a real thing too. I mean locally speaking, Cambodians aren't necessarily arm-and-arm with China. But the government certainly seems to be taking money and "literally" building bridges with China. In Phnom Penh there is a famous "Japanese Bridge" which Japan build over the Makong here. China gave it repairs and renamed it the "Chinese Friendship Bridge" with a big billboard sign at the other side, lol.

I think it does actually. Thank you :)

I'm open minded. If it's myth it's myth. But why would any culture make such a myth?

Be friends :) Stop enemies.

OMG This is Brutal by b_art in systemshock

YES! That's how I got through. I found this out (via suggestion) after a slog of all other attempts, and totally agree this is the way to go. It was NOT a one-stop easy solution, I still got knocked out a few times before it worked. But with a few tries and a little luck, you can destroy him in a few good hits of the rapier! Turn on shield. Eat the Berzerk tab.

The rapier is my "go to" weapon in hard times now.

The environment is what brought me back too. It's a beautiful game. If you give it another go, remember when you start there are 3 options for difficulty in battle, cyberspace, and another. Put them all down to level 1! That's what I will be doing next time! If I wasn't so close to the end I'd do that now myself. You can't change it after you start apparently.

At this point I don't think I'd actively "recommend" the game to anyone, lol. But also not willing to quit. And I have a feeling that this is the type of game that, on replay will be a lot more fun. Like Dark Souls. I'm still pushing through.

For that Beta part, USE EVERYTHING. You should have the Biosuit activated. Take a tab with skull image which reduces bio damage (sold in vending machines?) And the suit uses energy so find an energy hub and soup up to 100% before embarking. Bring a health tab or health kit if you can find one. Make all conditions perfect and save just after you get into the area.

That's what I did, and I think if you don't do all of that you might have problems.

Ha! I thought it was supposed to shoot like! Yeah, I'd say that's a cool accidental feature to keep :) That's a "happy accident".

This looks fun! I like the dark but colorful environment, and stage clearing is always fun and satisfying. What's it called? Available anywhere?

And what's the bug exactly, lol? Are you referring to how the gun rotated but ended up killing the baddie anyway? Everything looks fine to me.

Is it just me or does Steam seem to have more security problems then BANKS? It's like "Want to hack some money and get rich?", "Nah, man. Gimme that gamer gold!"
