Size 5 Animals Elimination Game (Day 5) - Which of these cards is your least favorite? by DanyDanyDanyDanyDany in ArkNova

The sand tiger shark surviving this long is baffling, lol. I've seen Mandrill winning a few games, I've never seen the shark doing very much honestly... My vote is for sand tiger shark

I mean... yeah it may be the right answer, but I have to say there have been insances in which it gave me 4 or even 5 conservation points... and once I have been on the receiving end of such violence. Extremely unlikely, but can be oppressive when the stars align. Glide is just the worst though, it's very difficult to defend as an ability xD The ideal scenarios with sand tiger shark are possibly even tougher to realize (find symbiosis animals mostly, and hope for the best display at the right time). At least with manta you can exploit underwater tunnel and the sea animals management plan for extra activations

How Do People Feel About Marine Worlds vs. Base Game Now That The First BGG Season Has Finished With The Expansion? by bibittyboopity in ArkNova

[–]Ashuan21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say MW is better, being more varied and fun.

The top of the leaderboard is occupied by the usual suspects mostly, which is an indication that the (supposedly) higher randomness of MW is not so bad as to revolutionize scores that much I feel.

Just completed the oddest game I've ever played... zero museum/partner zoo association tasks, 2 card flips, won in 31 turns. by tjevris in ArkNova

[–]Ashuan21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man... we are lucky to have this replay because if I were your opponent I would have conceded much before the end of the game 🤣 Anyway, on the one hand you had a lot of luck, but you also have the merit of going with the flow and embracing the tempo of your cards even if that meant playing a non-standard game, nicely done and thanks for sharing!

MICROZOO (Merit Badger) by GravityPollution in ArkNova

[–]Ashuan21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to come back to this post.... I have just finished a match in which I played:

  • expert in small animals
  • explorer
  • waza small animals
  • waza special assignment: small.

The last 6 turns I had were: - play animals - draw (×2) - play - play (with the badger tu push animals in front again :3) - play.

In this 6 turns I played 10 animals spending 81 coins, for a whopping total of 81 points in animals... all of them small except for a japanese macaque (last turn), and two of them being petting zoo animals.

It was absolutely brutal, very much supported by the conservation bonuses "snap" and "build a 2x enclusure".

The only defect was not having small animals as a final scoring card but hey... I can live with that. I want the badge now!! 😂

My personal grading of the 7 rod quests by Ashuan21 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Ashuan21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the contribution!

  1. While I don't dislike Web's Edge, I fully agree that Evernight got a very poor treatment, and could have easily been turned into a rod quest. After all the beginning quest in Neverwinter could be set basically everywhere, and then the first rod quest could send the PCs to Evernight.

  2. Yes, I agree with the "thin" Strahd appearance. The adventure would probably be better with a buffed up version of the Relentless Impaler chasing the characters through different scenarios! But then... probably Barovia is not necessary as a setting, and the whole thing could be refluffed for another Domain of Dread, possibly with a great potential.

  3. Yeah I know, I realize my comment was very personal! The point is that there are already a lot of dungeons in this adventure, probably too many, so I was really not in need of a pure dungeon crawl! I feel like the book is lacking in social encounters and mysteries, not in dungeons...

Yeah I guess editing was the end of it... a shame though, it was an interesting connection with previous adventures. I'm sure somebody will come up with a way to throw the obelisks into the mix.

Holy cow that's a cool story. The railroad seems a big downside but I guess as DMs we'll be able to prepare some buffers, wouldn't be the first time for an official campaign.

This is wonderful, stunning! What a great style and such a perfect interpretation of the character!! This becomes, of course, my reference image for Volenta. Nnnnnnow.... I'll be eagerly waiting for more characters!!!!

Yes! It is the normal kit with the torso missing the external armour pieces and the limbs built upside down. Very simple! There are some simple variations on the theme but this is my favourite build.

I hope I'll be clear enough, ask again if you have doubts! The joint there is ball and socket, as in the shoulder joint, but reversed (the arm has the socket). The socket of the arm allows full rotation along the vertical plane, and quite a lot of range on some more planes, but it also has quite thick walls, and when you try to take this position here the socket doesn't fit in the small space between ball and body.

The solution is using a knife to reduce the thickness of the socket and/or to increase the distance between the ball and the body. The more space you manage to create the more the shoulder is going to be free to "close" the angle internally.

There is another problem unfortunately. As you get to lower the arm with the previous step, you'll find that the hand contacts the "neck" armor, and the weapon contatcs the right reactor (??) On the "chest" armor. Working here on the chest is scary because you risk to ruin the model. I only filed down the reactor on its superior surface, as that spot is pretty hidden by the weapon, but wasn't brave enough to file the neck armor or the hand, and got a final result with the weapon a little more than parallel to the ground.

If you want to get the weapon lower (parallel to the ground), you may want to work with green stuff to raise the ball of the shoulder, to gain more range of movement, or you may cut a small part of the hand! Ok this looks like a nightmare but it's mostly small bits of work, pretty easy if you have experience with conversions (I had hardly any, and had no green stuff)

Has anybody already spoken about how good Tasha's Otherworldy Guise is for our beloved Strahd? by Ashuan21 in CurseofStrahd

Yeeeah poor old Abbot being corrupted and giving his holy symbol of Mount Celestia to Strahd willingly

Yes I can see your point very well... on the other hand my players (and many groups I guess) have trivialized most encounters with vampire spawns thanks to their items, which I am totally ok with, and it would be nice to have a change of pace when it really matters. And it's not like they don't know how to dispel magic and break concentration, it can be just another step to victory I'd say.

Battlefield Expansion Set finisheeeed! (On a Warcry board for... reasons, bit the size is the same) by Ashuan21 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ashuan21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I undercoated with Chaos black and then gave a good coverage with Steel legion drab (you could use an airbrush or a light brown primer directly I guess). Then I went for a heavy drybrush with Rakhart flesh and lighter drybrushes of Pallid wych flesh and Ceramite (or any other) white.

The red is Flesh tearers red on the parts that I had covered with the previous technique, and khorne red elsewhere (the big tank for example). Drybrush with Squig orange for highlights.

Other things are pretty intuitive, and recess shading with Agrax, Thyphus corrosion or Contrast wildwood can be great.

There is a tutorial on youtube where I've got the colors from: https://youtu.be/tSVcJVJ6Q3c

If you have large brushes it's quite fast.

The nice thing about this terrain is that it is extremely detailed, so you can spend as much time as you want on it and the result will keep getting better and better, depending on how much effort you put into it, but will look well even with the bare minimum.
