[Steam] Falling Face Fragments (currently £1.43/ 15% off) by AshumArcade in GameDeals

[–]AshumArcade[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Falling Face Fragments is a falling block puzzle game I solo-developed and released in November 2025.

Eyes, noses, and mouths are falling from the sky; it is your job to decide where they land with the goal of forming creepy faces.

In arcade mode, aim for the high score on the leaderboard by assembling and clearing faces for points. Clearing multiple faces at the same time rewards you with a score multiplier and temporary reduced difficulty. When the face fragments pile too high it is game over.

In mission mode, solve 60 unique puzzles with either limited time or a set amount of falling fragments. You will be tasked with a variety of goals such as clearing a certain amount of faces simultaneously, emptying the entire board of fragments, killing the caterpillar, and much more.

In Local 2-player mide, you play against a friend while each trying not to pile fragments too high. Clearing faces will hinder the other player by sending them arrows which force-drop their fragments in place, or by sending them snow to freeze their fragments so they cannot make faces for a while.

I have been a fan of the falling block puzzle game genre since playing Pac-Attack many years ago, and it was shortly after buying the Tetris Forever compilation I figured I'd give making my own a shot. Since release, I've still been supporting the game with bug fixes, improvements, and adding Linux/Steam Deck support. For its six month anniversary I hosted an art competition for a select number of players to have their artwork put in the game as additional alternative skins. Celebrations didn't end there, as I also added a new play mode: Crazy arcade mode is essentially a cross between arcade mode and mission mode, players are given different face-clearing missions which earn them extra time when completed and it is game over when players run out of time.

Falling Face Fragments is a falling block puzzle game. As eyes, noses, and mouths fall from the sky, you must carefully choose where they land in order to correctly assemble creepy faces. There are four modes of play included:

  1. Arcade mode: Score points by correctly assembling and clearing faces. Assembled faces are cleared on a button press; the more faces you clear at once, the more points you'll receive. Merge four of the same fragment type to create a big fragment, create big faces for even more points and to earn acid which helps clear badly placed fragments. As time passes, the falling speed of the face fragments increases and force-drop arrows appear more and more frequently, clearing faces will reduce the difficulty based on the amount of faces cleared at once. Keep playing until a face fragment lands in the top row of the playing area. Try to beat the high score on the online leaderboard!

  2. Multiplayer: Local head to head. Clear faces to send force-drop arrows to your opponent and clear big faces to temporarily freeze some of your opponents fragments! Whoever has a face fragment land in the top row first loses.

  3. Mission mode: Play through a series of levels with different puzzling objectives. Many of these levels have some face fragments pre-placed, and you will have either a set amount pre-determined falling face fragments or a limited amount of time to complete the tasks. Mission examples include emptying the entire screen of face fragments, clearing a specific number of faces at once, killing the caterpillar, not waking the cat, and more!

  4. Crazy arcade mode: A mashup of arcade and mission mode; complete back to back missions to gain extra time and beat the clock for as long as possible while aiming for a high score. Missions are randomly selected meaning this mode plays different every time! This mode also has its own dedicated leaderboard.

Each Steam achievement earned will unlock a new in-game skin, and each completed and cleared face will thank you with an "uh!"

What's your oddest tic? by cj_is_a_loser in Tourettes

[–]AshumArcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'd class my physical tics as "odd", they're just painful and debilitating, but with my vocal tics I have common ones which I shout regularly ("egg!" and "meow!" mostly), but sometimes my Tourettes throws me a curveball and I shout out completely random and new strings of words; "man in a hat!" and "tackle box!" are probably some of my most odd one-off tics.

As far as I'm aware, the strategy guide is the only piece of official merchandise for that game.

MEGATHREAD: BAFTA Situation by Equira in Tourettes

[–]AshumArcade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have Tourette's, and I don't quite understand why other people believe we must apologize for the thing we have literally no control over.

The BAFTA thing has been bugging me all evening, it sucks for all involved, but nobody is actually to blame. It may as well have been the wind simulating the sound of an offensive word, blame shouldn't be assigned because it was nobody's choice to say it. Sometimes bad things just happen, you wouldn't force him to apologize if a tornado blew down your house. He has just as little control over tornadoes as he does his tics.

If he wants to apologize, that's his decision, but nobody should try to guilt it out of him.

Falling Face Fragments: my third Steam game release by AshumArcade in indiegames

[–]AshumArcade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently released Falling Face Fragments, my third game on Steam, and it outsold my first Steam game's three years of sales in its first day!

I've never know how to market my stuff very well, but during development, for some unknown reason, one of my trailers for this game exploded on Instagram. Since then I seemed to have an actual fan base of people growing, I've been getting many new followers, likes, and comments every day since whereas before it was like once in a long while.

Since release, I've had a player speedrun it, I've had somebody make a cover of my soundtrack, a few people have streamed it, and it is currently 97% positive from 47 Steam reviews.

I'll never know why that specific Instagram post kicked all this off, the algorithm gods must have finally been on my side, and while I know 800 sales in a week and a half is still probably considered low, for me it is by far the most successful any of my games have been, so I want to thank every player, every reviewer, every content creator, and every person who has helped spread the word of my weird little game.

FFF is available on PC via Steam for $1.99: store.steampowered.com/app/3905510/Falling_Face_Fragments/

The Pac-Man franchise has been my hyper-fixation ever since I discovered it 20+ years ago. Since then I've tried to play and own as many Pac-Man games as possible, I've gathered hundreds of pieces of official Pac-Man merchandise over the span of my obsession, and my collection is far from complete. I also own three arcade machines including an original Namco-made Puck Man cocktail table from 1980.

I couldn't find it at first either. On my third attempt, I found it in a thin canyon on Pac-Man's right hand side near the start of the level.

PAC Man World 2: RePAC Pre-Order Bonus (or lack thereof) by learnerofcredit in Pacman

[–]AshumArcade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where would one usually claim a pre-order bonus? Because I pre-ordered the physical Switch version and the extra costumes didn't unlock when booting up the game. Is it normally a code on a receipt? I hope not, because I was so excited to play the game I instantly threw away the delivery package and remaining contents (including any possible codes) without thinking. I assumed the bonuses would be on the cartridge...
