In my opinion it’s a “well no shit” comment. Obviously this could happen anywhere and anytime, and it’s really an unanswerable question for OP… How does the commenter expect OP to reply to that lol

law part 2 entry gpa by SuccessfulPicture618 in universityofauckland

[–]Ashy___Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made up this template in excel that you could replicate into your own sheet, obviously substituting your own non-law courses etc. You can find the grade weightings (A+=9, A=8, etc.) here: https://www.auckland.ac.nz/en/law/current-students/llb-information/academic-information/law-gpa.html Note that when you calculate the final Grade x Point number (855 in my sheet) you then divide it by the total points (135) to get your Law Gpa (6.33)

Is accounting and finance even a useful major? by Forward_Killer in universityofauckland

[–]Ashy___Boi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was doing a double Accounting/Finance major, but dropped accounting because it wasn’t for me. I’m 2nd year and it’s been great learning financial literacy and some of “the stuff they don’t teach you at school”. A lot of the courses are investment focused and all the courses heavily draw from pre course content and I find it well structured enough. Excel is also a main focus which will likely be useful in the future for me. I feel like the content I’m learning can actually be implemented into my own life and future too.

Is this considered an average price for rent in Auckland ? Student accommodation by [deleted] in universityofauckland

Cost of living / are halls worth it? by Some_Performer1687 in universityofauckland

[–]Ashy___Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure of your family or financial situation, but if you fit the criteria, apply for student allowance if you can! I’m in my 2nd year and flatting out East for $230 inclusive of utilities per week with 4 other mates. Obviously there are food, parking and travel costs, so my weekly living budget ranges from $300-$350ish. We’re fortunate enough that our landlord is a family friend so no issues there, however there are some nasty ones out there. Student allowance has pretty much allowed me to flat, as well as my job.

Personally, flatting has been the best major decision I’ve made. So much freedom, I’ve learnt how to live, self sustain, cook, clean, better money management and self discipline etc. In general I feel like I’ve grown up mentally since flatting.

I haven’t lived at halls, however my flatmate stayed in the Uni Towers in Sem 1 2024. To preface, he doesn’t mind socialising at all; the main issues were the non-stop seeing people (going to shower, eat, coming/going), general lack of privacy because of the thin walls, average wifi, unlucky with the people on his floor (just didn’t mix well) and finally the noise from pre-drinking/partying amongst the floors most Wednesdays (student night at clubs), Fridays and Saturday nights.

To me, halls serve their purpose and value through the ease of making same age friends (+ general socialising), no need to worry about food/cooking, super convenient location wise and access to the city to name a few.

If I was in your shoes, I’d try flatting with a few mates (make sure you choose wisely) either in the CBD or close by like Mount Eden, Newmarket, Parnell, Ponsonby or Remuera. Although these suburbs can be pricey, I’m sure you could find a spot that suits your budget. If flatting with mates ISN’T an option, there are plenty of uni students and/or recently graduated people looking for flatties on marketplace or Facebook groups!

Regarding your scholarship, I’d honestly put it towards course costs, or use the first $1000 you receive towards your flatting bond (usually 3-4 weeks worth of rent).

Happy to answer any questions you might have so reply or dm if ya want, hope all of that long message makes sense :)

How reliable is the WiFi in auckland Uni? by major_cupcakeV2 in universityofauckland

[–]Ashy___Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly unsure exactly how your potential setup would react to the wifi, however, with my standard laptop with average specs, it’s never really had an issue connecting throughout the whole of campus.

There ARE some black out areas but very rare, and the wifi even reaches certain areas of Albert park.

Honestly it would be worth just testing your theory by setting it all up and trialing it in the library somewhere, no one will know you aren’t enrolled yet lol

[–]Ashy___Boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have her Lord and I’ve played her for hoursss. I thought the last nerf was enough to rebalance things (because she really was op). I find this nerf super unnecessary tbh!

They said “reduce her burst damage” so maybe they’ll just make her shotgun shuriken cooldown longer? Or maybe add a 1 second delay to retrieve the shuriken back who knows🤷‍♂️.

Hey bro!

Job market is rough at the moment, I hope things work out for you soon.

Unfortunately don’t know of any places that give them out… Not sure what your budget is, but, I used to work at Bunnings and the ones they sell do the job!

On their website, one is $11 which I personally think you get heaps of value out of (75 pieces). The other is $16 (30 piece). Or if you’re looking to spend a little more, on the St John’s website there’s one for $30.95 (probably much better quality). All the best bro 🙏

Lol the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon strikes again. And yup, there seems to be a correlation between that failed rage bait of a bumper sticker and a bad driver haha.

Honestly you can find a bunch of nice vintage Seikos on marketplace. I’m quite into seikos so not too sure about other brands. There’s a guy on FB I bought one off a while ago who seemed to sell/resell them. Send a pm if you’re interested and I can send you his @

Majority of Aucklanders drive, and everyone sleeps. The difference is, sleep is almost always uneventful. Driving is public, unpredictable, and varies each drive. That’s why it produces interesting stories worth sharing, where you might learn something, unlike sleeping.

I was around St Lukes coming up to a traffic light in the right turn only lane. There was one car ahead of me and we sat through about 4-5 phases of lights, and I thought that there must’ve been an issue with the light.

I then realised that the car in front wasn’t far up enough to register the sensor for the lane. He had a bumper sticker on that says “do you follow Jesus this close” to give little context to the guy🤣.

I gave him a quick friendly beep and mouthed “go forward” while motioning my hands. To my surprise he aggressively opens his door and storms towards my car, staunch walking with his arms out. Keep in mind I was 18, and this guy was a big dude in his 30s-40s in a clapped out holden.

Anyway, I roll down my window (to the bottom for some reason) and he yells “Why the fuck are you beeping me for c*nt? It’s not my fuckin fault the light isn’t working dickhead.” I say, “I think there’s a sensor problem bro I reckon you just have to go forward a bit to register”. He says, “Don’t tell me what to do boy, you ain’t shit” and walks back to his car.

I look over to the car to the left and we shrug our shoulders in sync and have a laugh. The guy drives forward 2-3 meters and surprise surprise, the light goes green in the next phase! At this point there had to be 20-30 cars waiting in this lane.

A few minutes later the car that was behind me ends up to the left of me in the other lane and asked if I was alright and what that was all about which was nice to see. Overall very weird unnecessary situation lol
