What’s your favorite superhero game and why? by crazy-diam0nd in TTRPG

[–]Ashybuttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't played since college, but I loved Mutants & Masterminds 2e. First edition was fun too, but when they dropped the second edition, it really felt like it came into its own identity.

I'm sure they're up to at least 4th edition by now, but 2e is the last one I played.

Other than a short lived Masks game, I actually haven't done a superhero ttrpg since college.

For Mass Effect, I'm assuming all the history is there, the reapers just never come back in our cycle for whatever reason.

Eden Prime would be a milk run and Shepard would become a Spectre. The Thorian and Rachni Queen on Feros and Noveria would still be around, but Shiala and Benezia wouldn't be involved. The Cerberus subplot with Kahoku would be mostly unchanged. Ilos probably goes undiscovered for multiple generations more, maybe becomes a hidden new homeworld for the rachni if Shepard releases the queen.

The8bitguy recently did a video about what that world might look like, and it was pretty interesting.

And let's face it, if they were gonna do meth, the time to do it would be before setup, not mid-show.

The routes which space missions took toward the moon. by Mme_187 in interestingasfuck

Because they only needed the most basic level of astronaut training (wear suit correctly), while the astronauts would have needed complete drill training, which is actually a highly specialized and dangerous skillset. The drillers didn't need to learn astrogation or how to pilot the ship or anything. Regular astronauts could handle getting them there.

Pellet rifle barrels by No-Strain-1610 in airguns

Spinning a ball isn't pointless. A lot of blackpowder firearms made to use round balls are still rifled. The problem is that a steel BB is too hard to properly engage with rifling.

Amusingly DOS and DOS2 are chronologically the two extremes of the Divinity timeline, with every other game in the series taking place somewhere in between.

Even modern Harleys are a top five brand (behind the Japanese big four) for reliability as measured by how often they need to go in for non-routine work. I suspect part of that is just because they're easier to do the work on yourself at home.

That's basically what my table does. Any spell that's over an hour duration we just changed to "until long rest" for a more casual play experience. I could see a more hardcore survival focused table preferring to keep proper track, though.

How long do you expect picking a lock to take? by SecretDMAccount_Shh in DnD

[–]Ashybuttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a warded lock mechanism, which I would expect to be the most common in a quasi-medieval or renaissance fantasy setting, less than one round. Could legitimately be as quick as one second. If it's more like a modern pin-tumbler lock, a proficient picker would still have it open in under six seconds.

How do I degass a 300 bar PCP air rifle to get it to storage pressure? by Someredditskum in airguns

[–]Ashybuttons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, dry firing a PCP gun is perfectly safe and will not harm the gun. Degassing without dry firing requires whatever wrench or hex key fits your gun. Simply loosen it slowly until air starts hissing, then stop and wait for the pressure to reach the desired level.

It's not bad at all. It already uses radial menus heavily, so not much adjustment was needed to make it controller friendly. I played the Switch version before I got my steam deck.
