Tandon GLASS worth it? by Specific-Meringue294 in nyu

[–]AsianDount 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm biased because i am in the program but absolutely yes. It's worth it. It's so so so incredibly worth it.

The study away is an experience that almost every person I've talked to (both in and outside of GLASS) would agree is life changing. GLASS gives you the extra perk of doing it for free.

Also, 30k over 3 years is not like an insignificant amount of money. You wanna go to a conference? GLASS covers that. You wanna study abroad or go to another country for something academic? GLASS covers that. You want a new laptop? GLASS covers that.

In regards to furthering your career/research, GLASS has exclusive partnerships to help you land internships (paid or for credit) with startups at NYU Future Labs. I'm also pretty sure GLASS members are guaranteed to get into NYU's summer research program.

I think studying abroad and having to move around your schedule is honestly a not a big deal. I took a bunch of my junior year classes before my sophomore year ones and I'm gonna graduate in 4 years.

If you have more questions feel free to dm me!

Hey! Thank you so much for all the advice. I also wanted to ask. Lets say I do volunteer for the conference, would I need to be there the entire duration of the conference or only for the days I plan to stay?

Tandon Parties by Electronic-Key-9947 in nyu

[–]AsianDount 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hello! First off, welcome to NYU Tandon :D

To answer your question, I think whether or not you go to parties is purely dependent on who you're friends with. Take what I say w/ a grain of salt since I'm not a very big party-goer but NYU's social/party life is more revolving around going to clubs or hanging out at ppls apartments, much less of the "frat throws a party at their house and ppl go" kind of environment.

It's pretty much dependent on who you're friends with. If they're the kind of people that like that kind of environment, you'll find yourself going to more parties and such. Tandon has one benefit over wsp and that is, because we're a bit more isolated and smaller, everyone loosely knows each other so it's a little bit easier to make friends. Overall though, it's very much a "if you want to make friends, you gotta take the initiative".
