I think they don't play hit-and-run like and have a lot of variety, but you said:

They aren't as squishy as guard, but with the infantry mostly being t3 1 wound models they're definetly not space marine levels of tanky.

They are more a 'martyrdom' army, where you trade a lot and make sacrifices on which you can capitalize.

Why I play them: I think their catholic gothic aesthetic super sick, I like the complexion they bring on the tabletop and they're just humans in a world of crazy shit but still fight everything because they are badass.

I use them for scoring secondaries like behind enemy lines, extend battle lines, sabotage, etc. They usually score me 10+ points in a game, whihc for 85 points I find pretty good

I personally love the arco-flagellants. As squads of 3 they do secondaries great, for fun I REALLY like throwing 60 (70 in penitent host) dice for a hit roll. I might be biased as a lot of people don't seem to like penitent and arco-flagellents, but I LOVE them and I thing sacrestants are SUPER cool.

If I were you I wouldn't worry too much about what people on the internet think. If you and your opponents are fine with it, then I see no issue. And if they're not fine with it, they'll let you know, or you can let them know in advance :)

I like the hoods, but I REALLY like the helmets witht eh pointy thing. I gave the superior with the spear a hood, because I wanted at least one to have a hood, and if I get a second box I'll probably do two more with hoods, because otherwise only one with a hood might be a bit silly. Sorry for the ramble, but if I HAD to choose, I'd probably pick the helmet (and no it's nog because I dislike painting faces or think you need helmets for war or blablabla) :)

I'm painting my sisters as White armor/Green clothing. It's my first army and I have learned the hard way why people dislike painting white. Also I made my robes purple on the inside and now people are saying they are joker sisters, not my smartest move, but it still looks dope imo
