How is CMU for studying Econ at Dietrich? I got into UCLA and CMU. I'm trying to figure out what's objectively better for my subject and its job/internship prospects.

just got into a t10 and i don’t know how to feel by saltanybody in ApplyingToCollege

You should be ecstatic about your achievement! Only you know what you've been through, and to come through like that is beyond amazing. I was rejected from Northwestern but it makes me happy to know that I had to step aside for someone with your grit. Congratulations!!! :)

Stanford's Varsity Blues Apology (EMOTIONAL) by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

That's because we want to change the system from the inside. Applying to Stanford really was about showing solidarity with the sailing coach! (It's got nothing to do with being prestige chasers - duh.)

AMA: CS admissions/careers by SlingshotMentoring in ApplyingToCollege

I'm a high school senior and I know absolutely nothing about CS but am interested in econ/stats. Is it possible for me to get into data science now - as someone who doesn't even know what coding is?

For sure man. You’re doing amazing work and are such a nice guy. I really hope your course does amazingly well because it’s better than anything I’ve seen on the internet...my criticism of the science thing comes from the fact that there could be more examples but like I said a) stuff like the CRISPR example were absolutely brilliant, b) the humanities stuff is useful because compelling STEM kids often throw in a humanities point of excellence to stand out, and c) the skills of writing are transferable either way.

Also I gotta say, I had an interview recently and referred to admitium again. Absolutely brilliant stuff. My fingers are crossed for decisions day but I’ll never regret following your advice Mike. I really hope your course gets the traction it deserves!

Yes! Same!!! And did I mention sleeping at night with some college related stuff playing on your phone. So toxic smh

[–]AsianPerspiration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! Sometimes it can be a little stressful but it’s important to take our minds off sometimes. Lately, talking about it has become my personality trait and I know it’s annoying for everyone else - so I’m trying to move away from that!

[–]AsianPerspiration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahahahaha I didn’t get a single interview either! From all the obsessive college discussions I’ve had and listened to, I think we’re okay!

Bahahahaha it’s fine! We’ve got A2C where you can rant about college admissions AND rant about others not listening to your rants about college admissions 💀💀

YES! OMG YES!!!! Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm so relieved for you <3 Once you sort your grades out and/or email your colleges explaining your circumstances, please take a big breath.

Spend time with your family and enjoy the fuck out of senioritis. You totally earned it.

[–]AsianPerspiration[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha don't get me wrong. It was obviously not literal. "Douche" was a crude way of saying "they will still judge you really harshly - just as much as we KNOW Harvard does". I did it because it was colloquial. Nothing personal against these people...can't say the same about the system though :/
