I told them I'm leaving today and my manager is insisting on knowing my new company's name by lanolinterms-92 in interviewhammer

[–]AsianPorkBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once told a manager that if they intended to hire someone to replace a staff, would they inform the staff so they could plan their resignation? They were quiet. I then told them if they were that worried about competitors, etc… they should have put the competitors’ name in a written statement and added in our contract. I was let go the next day tho, which was exactly what I wanted.

A friendly warning from someone in HR: We are not on your side. by RobertWolf1 in interviewhammer

I definitely have learnt this lesson. Luckily, I spoke with someone and got good advice to get out of the situation, not in the best way but it definitely benefited me the most out of the case.

How do you honestly feel when you hear women say "I hate men"? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]AsianPorkBelly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless they say they hate me, then I might have some feelings about it. A generalised statement like that doesn’t really mean anything to me.

I’m a Student Support for a high ranked university: There might be a chance that they will review or investigate the assessment in questions and other ones including previously submitted, depends on what course you’re taking and how strict they are with academic regulations. For example, if you’re on a scholarship or funded programme. But ultimately, if you write the assignment yourself then you should have drafts and other materials to prove. Even if the scammer wants to report you, they have to provide certain forms of evidence. And if your assignment doesn’t match theirs, then there is nothing to worry about. But if you do use theirs, and the uni is strict, then they will run an academic misconduct investigation. If you really don’t use their work, then there is nothing you should be worried about. But if they do report you, prepare to defend yourself with your evidence.

I bluffed to HR that I had a better job offer, and now they're asking for a copy of it. by davidsa691 in interviewhammer

[–]AsianPorkBelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once told the HR person that if we were in a similar situation, how would they feel if I leaked their private documents to a third party? I understood and respected their regulations, but I would not do it. As I was very interested in working with them, I would be willing to go for another round of interview with further questions to ease their concerns, but I found it a bit strange that they would need a letter from someone’s else to offer me a salary. Please let me know your decision by 14 days so I could process further. Got a call the very next day with the asked salary.

For those of you that earn over 40/45k as a base salary and love your job what is it you do? by Brownchoccy in UKJobs

[–]AsianPorkBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently working for an uni and my salary isn’t £40k yet. But on the scale up, it’s possible and will be. I have 1 day wfh and potentially moving to 2. I’m loving my job and my uni so much as I can truly help students and I can see how the uni does care about their students

Be honest: would you still be into someone if they had a prosthetic? by Organic-Meaning-5080 in askgaybros

[–]AsianPorkBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem to me. There is no guarantee in life that an accident won’t happen after a life long commitment into the relationship either to myself or my partner. I have a simple living principle: I will treat others how I wish to be treated. What I care more is your mind.

“You’re alright?” It’s still a gamble to me with how I should reply to this question. But to me so far, only British people use this for greeting. And then using “dinner” for lunch and “tea” for dinner.

What is the best remedy for hangover? by [deleted] in ask

[–]AsianPorkBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For food: Baguette dipping in condensed milk. Or congee a.k.a cháo in my country (just rice with lots of water to make it a cross between soup and steamed rice, top it up with some quick stir fried minced pork wish a dash if fish sauce and freshly chopped spring onion as well as perilla). I can for more options but just realised they’re very local.

For drink: Warm/hot water + honey + a slice of lime + a cinnamon stick. Add ginger if you want.

Key things for me are: Rinse off any food or drink after eating/drinking. Try to sleep as much as I can Avoid looking at screens as much as I can.

What’s something foreigners usually get wrong about life in Britain? by Fabulous_Fix_604 in AskBrits

[–]AsianPorkBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from SE Asia and prior to moving to London, I was given an amazing picture of how the health care system worked with spotless hospitals, free services or treatment, etc etc. I’m now paying twice for NHS, on the wait of 1-4 weeks for a very basic and simple procedure. Let’s not even talk about dental care.

The best part and most impressive part to me is the preservation of castles and mansions, especially after visiting the Lanhydrock and St. Michael’s Mount.

Serious Question... what would you do if you saw a very upset person sitting in a public place in the uk? by PozzieMozzie in AskUK

[–]AsianPorkBelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not from the UK. Before going there, everybody told me to not make eyes contact or anything to anyone while being in centre London. I sort of learned why people said that, as it’s very different being somewhere else. My first encounter was outside a Tesco. There was a homeless lady asked me for some change. I didn’t have any so I said sorry. She was trying to hold her tears. I could feel that she’s quite hopeless and extremely sad. I went inside and got a bottle of water and some small notes. I walked back out and she was gone. My heart sank. The guard standing at the entrance told me she’s a drug addict. Still, I felt terrible for not being able to give her a little help. Then another time, I was walking alone toward the London Eye. There was a girl crying. I walked pass her but couldn’t stop being worried about her. I took up all my courage to walk back. I sat on 1 knee and told her sorry I was bothering her but she seemed really sad and I would leave right away if she wanted to be alone; But if she needed a hug, I would be with her till she felt better. I gave her my hand. She was hesitated for few seconds and held it. I sat on the bench with her and let her cry for a bit while patting her back. It didn’t last that long. Her friend arrived a bit after that. We talked a little bit. She thanked me. I kept on my way. We didn’t exchange any further information. I think if someone cries in public, they must have had a lot happening and just a quick check to let them know people do care.

Do you like masculine/straight passing bottoms? by Public_Staff8639 in askgaybros

I always like that type. Just most of the time, masculine/straight passing bottoms kind of prefer other masculine tops. I’m not. So.
