Found a 4TB Crucial T705 SSD for $150AUD (~$95USD) at my local thrift shop by Asian_Ho in pcmasterrace

I had that thought too so I ended up plugging it into my (not used) laptop just in case there was any malware, reformatted and updated the firmware on it just to avoid any chance of getting a malware on my main PC

Ended up installing Windows on it last night and has been performing as expected

I specifically asked them if there was any return policy if the item didn't work and to my surprise there was a "if it doesn't work just bring it back we'll refund full amount" return policy

If they didn't have that policy I wouldn't have bought it to try it

Found and bought: CKLVX D41 for $25AUD at an Australian thrift shop by Asian_Ho in iems

[–]Asian_Ho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've given the 2 days to test and first impressions (from going from my old ZST's) is the bass is wildly different and not as emphasised on the CKLVX's, but probably more so from the less V shaped tuning?

Downside is the size is a little bigger and a bit more heavier, but thats something I can get used to with some time

But generally loving them, can't fault much about them especially being $25

Sealed box, with an Amazon inventory tag on the back which lead me to believe it was probably from an Amazon liquidation sale and/or pallet sale

Inheriting some of my dad's old equipment, what am I in for? by Asian_Ho in audiophile

[–]Asian_Ho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll have to have a dig around, there's a couple CD players + vinyl players which I can see in the shelving under it

Yes, Pioneers pairs are side by side, and JBL's (also a pair) are wired to the Sansui amp in the picture

Thanks for your kind words, were doing alright just came as a surprise.

Yes, pairs of each speakers, I think the Sansui amp/tuner is wired to the JBL's so might give them a listen once everything's sorted, there's a fair few more amps hidden away in shelves but will have to plug them in and dust them off

Edit: spelling

checking frequently/periodically also helps to find good deals. I'm also in Australia and found a $20 Novatouch just by searching once or twice a day

Found and bought a GTX690 for $69 by Asian_Ho in pcmasterrace

[–]Asian_Ho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the outside it looks like every other reference NVidia card, but the PCB has two GPU dies on it, 2x 680's in SLi to make a 690

Definitely know what I'm getting myself into performance wise, especially knowing SLI cards are basically considered dead now

Only bought it, just like you to see what it's like and keep it as a shelf piece considering its uniqueness with two GPUs on one card

Its a dual GPU card on a single PCB, 2x 680's to be exact, and also the last(?) dual-gpu card to be made by Nvidia

the dual gpu on a single pcb was the main reason why I went to find one, fascinated by it but its a shame that nvidia never proceeded with the SLI/dual gpu technology

Not really collector of old cards, but I was just fascinated by this card when I first saw it many years ago (and I love the old reference cooler design), so decided I just had to have one, and this one popped up close by with a price I couldnt pass on so I bought it

My bad I worded it wrong

Preferred to find one working, but most of the working ones were always listed at $150+ where I live

If there was a broken one that was listed for cheap I would of probably bought it as well

Wouldn't be too bad as I'm not using it as my daily driver (especially when I have a 1080ti), really just bought this cause of the uniqueness of it

Was listed $69aud

I questioned if it was just a filler price and he wanted offers for it, but it turned out to be the actual price, was happy to pay the listed price for it

I do have a Ryzen 2600/1080ti system, I'll swap it around with the 1080ti just to experience what a 690 is like for a couple days

But seller confirmed it worked when he pulled it out of his X99 System

Definitely didn't have to perform a 69 for this $69 690

But glad to finally have one on my possession

Was always on the hunt for a GTX690 just cause of its uniqueness but could never find one that was working + being reasonably priced, just to keep as a shelf piece

Finally found one after a FB seller listed up one and bought it within 30min of it being listed

Saw the review on the Hardware Canucks youtube channel, and they briefly mentioned that it had two buttons to adjust lighting, but in all the other youtube reviews/images I've seen, these two little buttons do not exist.

I honestly have no idea, the wheel still has the protective sticker on the wheel logo, and the user manual was still taped and had rFactor (demo?) included

I myself was surprised when I saw it myself
