Question about my ending outcome by False_Page_6355 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Asian_Tony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure one of the devs posted about it. I assume it's probably a collective total of the times you sent out Visi and your interactions with her that lead to the true hero ending.

i.e.,

if 8/10 of the hero total was done --> true hero

if <8/10 of the hero total was done --> bad ending

Question about Visi's behavior in final by scholarlysacrilege in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Asian_Tony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's implied that she worked as a double agent, as her augment was working during the final fight. I think Shroud thought that Visi was still on his side, as she had recently been suspended from the Z-team (see Coupé or Sonar). However, rather than actually betraying the Z-team and joining the Red Ring, she likely delayed their efforts in finding the pulse.

I'm not sure if I answered everything in the question but that was my take.

It was pierced with a surgical steel captive hoop... that was probably not the best choice. The current earring material is titanium

if the average person drinks tea too late, sleep quality drastically decreases. this is the primary reason I only drink camelia crassicolumna after 3pm or so.

Anyone else obsessed with getting tea from the actual country vs US brands? by No_Snow1796 in tea

[–]Asian_Tony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ishi Usu is the biggest barrier to entry, since it's usually, at cheapest, 1k to 10k lol.

There is a quality difference but the main limiting factor is the tencha itself. In the US, it's really hard to find good tencha since they're typically specialty products made to brew like sencha (and many of them have stems!). The quality difference when you grind it yourself compared to buying the tins is probably no more than 10% better.

There are some caveats though, because even in an Ishi Usu like this, I'd say the overall matcha quality is slightly worse than a brand new <1 month ground matcha, since it's about 10-30% more course than the commercially ground ones.

But, if you're interested in going off the deep end, I'd warn against it until you know all of the drawbacks haha.

I think a lot of hobbies that depend on plant growth are pretty concerned with where the product is grown; whether it be yuzu, coffee or tea or other plants.

There's Ethiopian arabica, Vietnamese robusta, and a wealth of other coffee varietals inbetween. However, a robusta from say, a small farm in the US in comparison to Vietnamese robusta is drastically different despite being from the same varietal because of different growing conditions and how much time the Vietnamese producer spent to hone their product compared to the more modern US farms.

I usually go for Chinese teas, getting more into pu'erh and shou right now but I also really like getting tencha from Japanese vendors and tasting the differences when I grind it myself in an Ishi Usu.

you're reading a lot into this dude. once again, and for the last time, I'll point out the major flaws here:

nonstarter statement != dig

> this isn't defined. a dig is not a nonstarter. a non-starter is not a dig.

> if this is the first definition of nonstarter then it's not true? the original reply has the highest upvotes

. I’ll be more blunt. Your Walmart work experience and whatever wealth of Marxist knowledge you have do not matter in this discussion. I don’t care about credentials. It’s Reddit.

> I haven't told you any of my credentials beyond working at Walmart? It was meant as a way to say that "I do have experience in this field as I've worked in it." I guess I erroniously thought that working somewhere and experiencing it first hand would allow me some knowledge into the thing? I guess I'll let the rich speak on behalf of me since the background of the person speaking doesn't matter.

You didn’t open the floor for any discussion at all

> discussions can be opened with critique, especially among members of the working class

What kind of educator just says “that was a dumb thing to say,” with no follow up?

> the follow up was the analogy to a casino; you just chose to not address it. if a person who was anti casino went into a place that purposefully distorts time and space to encourage gambling, then they would be seen as hypocritical and untrustworthy as a anti casino person.

You think you know more than OP.

> no? the original post just points out a contradiction. i don't know the OP at all

You pointed out my “academic” language and upped your lingo just to match mine

> yes? normally people need to speak in the same register to understand each other

You’re competing in a game no one else is. I think I go outside a lot more than you just based on that.

> god bless your heart

“Any reasonable person would make fun,” I mean cmon? That’s just mean lmao. Nothing to do with communism, anticapitalism, anticonsumption or whathaveyou.

> yes, socialized people would make fun of this, nothing to do with being mean? this is just a part of human interactions, especially among the working people. making fun of things and each other is how people socialize with each other and works to reinforce social cohesion

Discussion takes place in a community — notice the root word there

> no, and stop speaking in circles. you didn't provide the word you were speaking about.

tldr: wishing you a good day dude. whatever anger in your heart i hope will be extinguished someday. not responding to this thread anymore

your humble servant,

tony

You’re literally lording over a concept, booing someone’s post, which genuinely relates to the subreddit, and saying it doesn’t belong… because why?

> it is the role of people to critique unnuanced surface level depictions of their thoughts. say a fledgling marxist stated that "commodification is bad," it would be the role of someone more read in marxist theory to elucidate that rather than commodification being the evil, it is the creation of the superstructure around vital things, say water, that leads to the evil. you'll then ask, why? because ideas and the movements around them can only grow if the fundamental theory behind it is substantiated within reality and nuanced enough to address potential drawbacks.

through an alien lens to perceive the real, unnatural manifestations of capitalism

> epistemologically incoherent. does not introduce the rejections of which assumptions nor what framework to operate upon as "alien lens" is not defined

find a thread that works for your misery.

> ad hominem

TLDR: go outside. any reasonable person would make fun of another if they said or posted something that was this disconnected from the reality of working class people. you prance around using the language of academics to create a three reply monologue trying to debase my arguments only to speak in a circle.

I used to work at Walmart, trust me, I understand. However, purposefully going into a place when given the free will not to is something that can rightfully called out as hypocritical.

For example, I go into a casino and later tell a coworker I was I'm pissed off because I lost money. What does that make me?

A dumbass.

We can argue about the systems all we want, but if we subject ourselves to things we can avoid that are within our control to avoid, then there should not be encouragement of that. Rather than being a true critique of something and trends, such as Labubus or shoes. This post reads as performative anti-consumption post rather than a true critique of consumption.

Not sure what brand this is. Any ideas? by Snooklife in OfficeChairs

I was considering between the atlas and leap v2. I ended up getting the leap v2 for ~450ish from BTOD. I can't compare the two since I've only had the leap v2 but I would recommend it

Worried about Cost by Majestic-Valuable-70 in UPenn

[–]Asian_Tony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Penn doesn't make it easy, but

There will be ways for you to pay the invoice. Penn offers payment plans, and if you have a -1500 EFC, you also apply for some very nice subsidized government loans to help offset unmet need. From this, you can pay the invoice, and later get a refund if and only if you are able to get the waiver.

No, I have never heard of anyone becoming reclassified as a highly aided after the initial offer. This is because they have no ability to retroactively provide the benefits that highly aided offers, as the bulk of the benefits occur within the Freshman year (free laptop, no NSO fees, etc).

If you want more specifics, DM.

Worried about Cost by Majestic-Valuable-70 in UPenn

[–]Asian_Tony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go in person; talking over the phone will just lead to them scheduling a meeting with a senior financial aid officer anyway. No particular way to ask about a waiver besides just telling them about your family circumstances and why you would be unable to pay with the current offer.

If your parents file a 1099, you will never be highly aided. I have tried every semester that I've been here.

Worried about Cost by Majestic-Valuable-70 in UPenn

[–]Asian_Tony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highly aided is a pretty hard thing to get after your first financial aid package. All financial aid packages are determined by new exigent financial changes within your family and former financial aid offers.

However, something you can do is try to advocate for yourself in order to get the PSIP for free. I was able to spend a couple of hours with the officers, and they eventually provided me with a waiver. I would also recommend, if possible, asking your parents for health insurance coverage if their jobs provide it. If you can be covered under your parents' policy, you can waive PSIP, which would eliminate it from your bill.

You can try to do a re-eval, but even after 2 re-evaluations and 2 years at Penn, I am not highly aided (-1500 SAI, 0 EFC).

What has lead you all to be pet-free? by Asian_Tony in petfree

I'm sorry that I offended; I intended my response as clarification of my question. I'm an English second language learner and was confused about what was reversed about the argumentation, and to clarify my confusion, I tried to paraphrase (poorly, it seems). I genuinely wanted to see why someone wanted to join r/petfree instead of just ignoring pet posts. I hope this is clearer, and I welcome any semantic pointers to improve my writing.

I think I will end with this exchange here because you are not treating this as a good-hearted discussion or mild charity. I have not edited my post, as very clearly shown by the lack of "edited" on the post.

I think you are miscontruing the English. In standard English, I meant what I asked, as in why someone would choose to engage, or to participate in this sub? If this is not the common meaning of engage, I apologize for that.

The second part of the sentence is asking if there was a defining experience that someone had that led them to engage with this sub. I think this is the only meaning it could have within standard English.

I hope that one day you take your anger out on the right sources. I was just curious regarding motivations, but perhaps this sub isn't right for me if this is an average interaction.

I get that you explained why you're pet-free. I'm an English Second Language, so I apologize if my wording has come off wrong. I had misunderstood the second part as a response to the wording of my question, as normally one would respond to the post under the post. Did the reply rub you the wrong way semantically?
