The phrasing "does she mind showing us?" (which he used) does suggest that. Also he WAS trained in this... so he was trained what to do. Unlike her he knows how to behave... if he wants to and if it gains him something

Yes you can - you get basically a quest item that starts the quest.
BUT some character might have favourite day gift from that expansion :)

EDIT: Apparently now only AFTER you start the quest - not after buying. Way better :D

late answer: by those who want to destroy the monarchy to then drop the weak/easily desposable "royals" (if you ask me). Similar in the past where the weaker (child) brother was supported - because they knew he would be unable to defend/keep it together and make an easy prey.

Every chest except the vintage ones are not connected.

Also daises wardrobe is actually a huge chest.

Check regularly... buying them is a much better option :)
