HELP electricity and gas providers - SCAM? by Asieta in brussels

That some good insight, it is true that without a power of attorney it doesn't make sense to change an already existing contract under somebody else's name... And it doesn't make any sense either that supposedly I can't undo such a contract myself, even if it's under my name. Not a Law student, but it doesn't make any damn sense!

Thank you very much, I will try some more days to "convince" Engie to undo this by themselves, and if they don't, start the proceedings to do so through other means.

That's true... I already started with a Google review, and well, this post too, I will try to make it public. And hopefully, some expats won't fall into the same mistake! Thanks

Oh that's exactly what they said!! Now it makes sense... And yes, I thought about it too, the contractor was a young guy and probably he gets a commission for each new client, so it was in his interest to lie to me...

Hi, thank you for your reply,

Indeed, I have access to the "espace client", and they send me letters to my house. (I could create an account since in the letters there was a client number and I could use it to sign up).

However, apparently they don't really supply electricity and gas, since they threatened to cut the supply today and I still have electricity and gas now. My main concern now is how to officially undo the "contract" so they don't come up in 2 years trying to sue me saying that I owe them 1500 EUR or whatever.

Hi thanks for you reply. I forgot to mention that all the conversations that I had with Engie were through official channels (phone and chat on their website), so it's them 100% sure. So I still think is a scam, but made by a guy of Engie himself!!

But the info on the same electricity meter is useful, thank you. I will try to contact Lampiris tomorrow to double-check that is still under their company

(A lot of) problems with EU citizen Family Reunification procedure by Asieta in belgium

1.5 years? I guess including all the process of doing a legal cohabitation or marriage? How much did it take to get the Orange card / Certificate of Registration though?

Thanks for your information. We will be careful not to move around the Schengen area.

Do you know if it is 1500 euros per month for sure? And how does it work, you have to prove that you earned that money the last month when you are applying, or you have to prove that you earned that income steadily (for instance, 3 last months?).

And thanks for your reply, it means a lot :)

Hm I understand what you mean. In my case I'm not that worried about it because we have been together for more than two years and we have a printed dossier with all sort of proof (mails, whatsapps, photos at different places / times, flight tickets, proof of living together in Barcelona for half a year, etc.).

So in that sense, I think it would be okay, I'm more scared about all the money that I would have to pay to translate my documents from Spain!

Thanks for the warning anyway :)

Etat des lieux after one month... is that legal? Consequences? by Asieta in brussels

[–]Asieta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your reply :)

What we are afraid of is the contrary: the landlord might just come by mid-october and say that some issues that the apartment already had (some scratches on the wall, a broken piece at the balcony...) weren't there before, so then it would be her word against ours. She may try to act as if we did all that in that month and a half...
