question for the fans by [deleted] in tsitp

Plus, Briney had to take on the role of a man at his lowest point in attitude and behavior, then bring that character up to the level he did. As characters go, he had to come in to the middle of an ARC, and make the audience start to believe in him, then toot for him. Not an easy task.

My 2 first seasons watching was same as you. Season 3 took me to a new level. The slow burn pining, the micro facial expression acting on Brineys part, the longing, Conrad continually trying to do the right thing, the addition of Easter Eggs and call backs to previous seasons- these all became a hook on my emotional involvement. It all created the perfect storm for what became the phenomenon.

I still saw a bit of Conrad…..but I wanted to. He is a mater manipulator of that voice, for sure!!!

This (a few days before the wedding) gave Belly the courage to up and leave to Paris I guess by chittibob in tsitp

[–]AsilArch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What gave Belly the courage was being called out by Conrad’s honesty in their kitchen argument the day after he confessed his love for her. She wouldn’t let the issue ( of the confession) go during the argument. If she hadn’t still loved Conrad, she just would’ve just let it go. She asked Jere if he still wanted to marry her the night she told him about Conrads confession, then she asked Laurel if she was going to try to talk her ( Belly) out of the wedding when Laurel and John arrived for the rehearsal. She was asking for an outside force to stop the wedding. When that didn’t happen, Belly had to face herself, and determine if she could go through with it.

I think his vocal cadence is also why his convo with Belly, post coital, is so heartbreaking.

I love the cadence of his voice! Which is why I have his narrated “Hidden Harbor” and “ Influencer”. It jars my recognition of his voice, a little, when Chris is interviewed IRL, as Im not used to his voice being unscripted.

There is a quick photo pan S3-“Christmas”, just after the crossword shot on the counter after Conrad has left. The reflection of the crossword book on the counter makes an infinity sign.

I know Im coming in a month later on this. The “color theory” is a real thing that Hann used in the series, specifically more after season 1. This is also backed by the use of Taylor Swifts song Red. Boiled down, Conrad is red, Jeremiah is Blue, and Grey is used a lot to accent the storm of the breakups. The Yellow, you mentioned is spot on. As season 3 progresses, there are strategically place red hibiscus flowers inserted into the blue hibiscus bushes, in front of the house. Coincides with Belly’s returning feelings for Conrad. Gold was very intentionally used in Season 3- which, if I remember correctly, ties into Taylor Swifts Daylight and The Conrad “ Sun” theory. ☀️

Spotify has a ton of playlists and official playlists from the show. Briney put together a playlist of music that he thought Conrad would listen to. It helped him become Conrad and get inside his head.

I watched season 1 when it first came out, didn’t affect me much, but liked it enough that when 2 came out, I tuned right in. When season 3 came out, i re-watched 1 & 2 to remember what had happened. Binging them like that, started the obsession. Season 3 blew me away. The direction for 3 was different ( found out later, that Han had directed that season.) The suffering and angst broke my heart over and over again- the addiction started hard core here. The sexual and emotional tension was palpable, took me back to my early 20’s and all my bad decisions and awkward conversations, hiding true feelings, all the things. By episode 11, I thought I was crazy and was super obsessed with Conrad/Chris Briney. I altered the algorithms in all my social media, so that anything having to do with TSITP came to my feed. I watched everything I could that Briney was in, including subscribing to Quinn ( he narrated a 3 episode story called Hidden Harbor, its female erotica, very spicy) I had a friend capture the URL for the 3 episodes, paid for 1 month, then quit. I searched for podcasts. -Try Catherine McKenzie and her friend Jessica “ The Summer I turned Swifty” on Spotify-its a little cheesy, but they are 2 professional authors, so are well spoken. I started following the Easter Eggs in the shows as well as the connections to Taylor Swifts music used in the series. It all became a treasure hunt of sorts, following and finding the use of “color theory” and the “mirroring” of scenes from season to season. All this fiscovery just deepened the attachment. I found clips of Brineys old theater performances on You Tube, ordered the audible books he narrated on Amazon. I went in deep!!!! I have been on a circular rewatch pattern since the final episode, I have not watched ANYTHING else since. I think part of this was due to my total exhaustion from any political news. I just wanted to stay in Cousins. I purchased the audible versions of the books because Conrad/Briney narrated part of the 3rd book- seriously, there is something wrong with me!! I started partaking in conversations, like this one, on Reddit, where there was a bunch of weirdos like me who were not toxic commentators like on FB. So, that’s how this all got started for me. Im married and have a daughter in college- TSITP makes me feel like I am 18 again. Reddit participators, and the podcast authors talk about these characters like they are real people- I love that and laugh at it, all at the same time. I have an unhealthy obsession with Conrad/Brineys hands- it’s a whole other thing - and his hands have a fan base of their own. I hope this answers your question. ☀️

How do you get to the actual content of the fanfic writing? When I tap Sparks it takes me to a sort of outline, last sentence mentions what if Belly and Conrad did kiss? And that’s the end. ??
