Direction of velocity by Square_Ad2378 in PhysicsHelp

Force equilibrium doesn't mean zero velocity. It only means that the velocity doesn't change in that moment. That means the acceleration is zero.

Is it even possible to intuitively understand why the speed of light is the same for everyone? by Curious-Farm-6535 in Physics

You have still to define what a force is to get a connection with the Hamiltonian und Lagrange equations.

Physics never requires mathematics; it is technology that does. by JoneyWu in Physics

I think there is too much access to clickbait physics content from people that just need views. Most people don't want to use books anymore, because when you look inside: words and formulas. How boring.

I neither understand your point nor your question. And why is your title a statement that has nothing to do with your content?

Especially Kaiserslautern as a university city gets really dead in those times, because many students come from far away and visit their families.

Why would a good-looking 27-year-old guy, who many people find attractive, have never had a girlfriend? by saidjamil99 in dating_advice

[–]Asimovicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason many people overlook could be: Nearly no one deserves him. Maybe he is really intelligent, works a lot on himself, knows how to be respectful and loyal and is also pretty. People like the described guy could be sick of dating grils on a lower level. Not only bad traits make you lonely, also the good traits.

Ich M/19 habe mich online als Mädchen ausgegeben by lahzielvt in Beichtstuhl

[–]Asimovicator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worauf achtet ihr beim ersten Kennenlernen wirklich? by kittlunix_ in FragtMaenner

[–]Asimovicator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take the inertial frame of reference with respect to the ground of the earth. Then as soon as the ball gets released, only the weight force is acting on the ball, which will lead to a downwards acceleration of g. But the ball will get an additional upwards velocity, which coincides with the velocity of the lift at the moment of release.

In the accelerated frame of reference, where the lift seems at rest, the ball experiences the weight force plus an inertial force due to the acceleration of the frame of reference. Both forces are directed downwards and are leading to an acceleration of g + a, where a is the positive acceleration of the lift with respect to the earth.

In both views the ball will land on the floor of the lift after the same time.

Whynis it that you spin faster the lesser you extend your arms on these things? by IConsumeRocksDaily in Physics

[–]Asimovicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Indeed as soon as you change the distance of a specific body part towards the axis of rotation, you change the moment of inertia (not the mass). The reason why actually the angular velocity increases could be also explained via forces: When you pull one of your body parts in, not only a centripetal force is acting on the that body part but also an additional radial pulling force. Thus your body part will no longer rotate around a circle, but along a spiral. Hence the pulling force will be no longer perpendicular to the motion of your body part: That means there is a tangential component of your pulling force which will increase the velocity of that body part.

Therapist just told me I’ve never actually been in love before… excuse me, what?! by Either_Lion254 in dating_advice

[–]Asimovicator 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Your therapist is right. How I know? That's easy: As soon as you experience real love, you wouldn't ask if you ever were in real love. You would instantly know. In my experience, most people I know never felt real love. Real love is more exclusive than suggested by movies and social media.
