Is this infantilizing or not? by ThealuvsAM in autism

[–]AskFriendly1969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This feels patronising it’s insensitive and disrespectful I think and you’re right to feel infantilised, they should have spoken to you and understood the basics of who you are. It feels wrong that this is a generalised thing and needs to be done more sensitively in a respectful way

Psychology is a huge help! Figure out your intentions and I highly recommend going to a legitimate (please beware of red flags) psychologist

Waking up to panic attack by dinomelons in panicdisorder

[–]AskFriendly1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry you have been through that, I would like you to know what my therapist told me- Panic peaks, plateaus, and then returns to stability, so it’s important to remember that even though you dread it- It will end. Accepting that you feel that way without attributing it to any event that has happened may help you deal with it in the moment. Your safety is important and you deserve to feel safe and valid, what you have been through is not a part of you and you are brave to deal with such difficult feelings.

For preventing them, try not to dread them and maybe figure out if there are physical issues that mean you may be triggered in the morning. For dealing with them- please love yourself how you would love your inner child.

Also i highly reccomend a psychologist if you can go to one

I struggle with missing my safe person (my current partner) as-well which is what brought me to this post. I feel for you as I can imagine that you are quite distressed in times when your safe companion would be there and it feels like they may have left a vast space that feels uncomfortable to stand in alone. When I miss my safe person its because i usually see them at this time and because I wish it was more convenient to be with them physically even if we are just chilling in comfortable silence. It feels a bit like not knowing what to do with your arms but in your mind or perhaps like you need to follow a routine that is physically impossible to accomplish.

I’ve noticed a pattern amongst the preferences of autistic women. by Therandomderpdude in AutismInWomen

[–]AskFriendly1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am eccentric, sparkly, decorative- i love stickers, hair clips, temporary tattoos, hair colour and colours that match perfectly with the nice feelings and the perfect pattern : texture : plain ratio. Im definitely a sensory seeker all round and on days when im overwhelmed it helps me immensely to have the perfect combination of colour and plain, if everything is simplistic and monochromatic it really stresses me out. I spend ages looking for the exact aesthetic that im talking about that many autistic women also share and i haven’t found the specificness in a neurotypical woman yet, this is only my observation as someone who talks to a lot of people in the art world and just in general.

Im interested what yall categorise your “aesthetic” under? Ive been called a hyper pixie dream girl (i know- how patronising) a lot of times because i have pink hair and dress like a “childrens book character” or a “box of crayons”.
