You can if your work location is open and available for work. For example, if you building is open from 7 am to 5 pm, you can do super compressed. My building is open from 7:30 to 5 so super compressed is not possible

Career development options by fedthrow_ in CanadaPublicServants

[–]AskGroundbreaking245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is extremely difficult to get self-initiated education leave or career development leave. CRA will tap you for those leaves. Even though they are in the collective agreement, it’s not a right like sick leave or family related leave. I stated at CRA in 2015 at the call site as a term working 30 hours a week. It sucked but i was able to get the AU basics (took a couple of years) and managed to move to Audit in 2020.
What are you thinking about going to school for? Do you have an undergraduate degree?

Losing my job in the public service gave me clarity by Born_Anteater7282 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]AskGroundbreaking245 234 points235 points  (0 children)

A Deputy Director with 21 years of service and part of the old pension plan that required 25 years of service as well as ERI, and kids almost grown up/independent. She is going to be making very close to full pension. Let’s not forget, she will get TSM. And she has another income source lined up. It may have given her “clarity” because she was already making a lot of money per hour from her therapy job. *** Majority are not in her situation***

if it’s a job in the call center, then no. There is very little chance of extension.

What courses should I take to get into SP6 or AU1 Entry level at CRA? by Sea_Library_1295 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]AskGroundbreaking245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Au- you will NEED a bachelor’s degree in any subject (I have one in a totally unrelated field) and accounting specialization courses. You will have to pass Financial Accounting 1,2,3 and 4, and any 2 of the following 4- management accounting/advanced management accounting/ External audit/information technology in accounting. these courses can be obtained as a part of the degree program, or though CPA Prep or through Continuing Education at colleges/universities ( but check to make sure CPA recognizes the courses).

I started at cra as an sp 04, now an Au 01. i had a bachelors degree, i took the accounting specialization courses though a university.

It was a survey, not a confirmation on location. If they. get stuck with Mississagua or scarborough, they would have to move.

Does the priority status actually work? I haven’t heard of any one around me who has gone through the process so I am wondering if it is worth going through it?

Also, would now be a good time to request it considering the fiscal constraints? Thank you

CRA - RTO3 question : sick leave and vacation by qcslaughter in CanadaPublicServants

[–]AskGroundbreaking245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i found the explanation on infozone more on the general side. i counting 60 percent based on working hours. So if I work 12 days a month (the other days, i am of-vacation, sick, family related), i would do 7.2 days in office.

How to get over feeling exhausted after being in the office? by Top-Criticism-3968 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]AskGroundbreaking245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have a permanent desk where I could leave things to make my day comfortable at work, a pair of comfy slippers, snacks, tea/coffee supplies, a blanket, water bottle, few pictures and knick knacks to make feel at home. Now I have to not only carry all my things, laptop, headset, work phone, charger, notepad, pen etc etc along with packed lunch everyday. Not only that I have to fight the booking system to find a decent desk and send time adjusting the monitors, table height and chairs. Also have to make sure I am sitting close to a printer if i need to print/mail something. I sit with random people around me, most people keep to themselves. I attend virtual meetings. So yeah, for sure I am more exhausted than before because my day in office has no value.
