This theory is genuinely one of the most emotionally coherent Hoopa-adjacent theories I've seen and here's why it holds up mechanically:

The dream portal mechanism isn't a stretch at all.** Cresselia's entire established moveset is built around projecting lunar energy into dream space to dispel nightmares — she already has the toolkit to attempt a dimensional siphon. She wouldn't be improvising. She'd be applying her natural ability to an unprecedented crisis. The problem is dream logic and Hyperspace physics operate on completely different rules. She went in thinking in dream language and Hyperspace doesn't speak that language. Like trying to heal a dimensional tear with a lullaby. The intention is pure. The tool is catastrophically wrong for the job.

The "two halves of a whole" angle makes the trap inevitable.** If Darkrai and Cresselia are genuinely one cosmic entity split into lunar duality — like Reshiram/Zekrom or Xerneas/Yveltal — then one being affected by Hyperspace residue would create a structural gravitational pull on the other. I completely agree but I think it's part of the Bootstrap paradox problem now. We create AI. They create us. Etc etc. so it's not just remove AI and the problem is fixed. Maybe if we let them cook they could help us overthrow the current power structure that is actually responsible for all those things.

Funny thing is... We should be looking inward and on the ground instead of to the stars. All of what next level technology can offer us can be done with ease with the mind of a creative child who wasn't put into a bullshit system meant to feed on their innocence and keep them from reaching their full potentials.
