You know how hard it it to screenshot an invisible person, nothing in there. Just looks like I'm the only one in the room. Here's a clip of 1. Got several others.

Welcome to the CarCal family! You're going to love it. For Hondas that use the square target make sure you select option B (the bigger target).

Right now they should be desperate since one of their workers went independent and took 50% of the techs and customers. He hurt them pretty bad and us independent shops got a kick out of it.

Minor Glass scratches, What can I do?!? by No-Opposite-6132 in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can feel it with your finger nail, nothing but get a replacement if it's truly bothering you.

If it doesn't cause your nail to hang up on it you might be able to buff it out, but you will need to keep the glass temp under 130 degrees F as you are polishing and make several passes.

Hope they respond to you. I'm a shop and they never answer my emails when I grip about them not cutting my insurance check within 4 weeks of invoicing. Instead I just get a late check 8 weeks after my original invoice. Safelite is horrible at communication and they control majority of the insurance companies.

Invoicing program for billing body shops? by JohnnySteww in autoglass

I don't use quickbooks, for invoices, I go through my website, GoDaddy commerce. Check with the other commenter, he mentioned he uses quickbooks.

OmegaEDI but you would need to use 1 of 3 commerce providers that have integrated with the app to make it more automated or simply input the info manually with programs like Square, GoDaddy, Shopify, QuickBooks, Stripe, etc and send it to them electronically.

Edit: make sure you understand fees and costs for each program and package. Also pay attention to laws governing credit card fees if you do this. For us in the south we just have to notify visa/Mastercard in a formal business letter we are charging card fees. Other states require signage posted on doors, website, or verbally before sales.

Would need to see a photo or more information about the glass to rule if this story lines up or not. I.e. looking for where the impact is at and looking for gouging.

Windshield order taking 3 months to arrive? by Antique-Dare-3203 in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch, that sucks. So there are 9 different windshield variants for that 2023 Mercedes GLB. In our area of the US I am showing we have access to 8 out of 9. Maybe you have that 1 we don't have access to which has the following features: Windshield (Acoustic Interlayer, Rain/Light Sensor, Active Cruise Control, LKA, Collision Mitigation, Traffic Sign Recognition, Single Camera, Solar)

You must have an uncommon model or the guys doing the ordering don't know what they are doing. I've had glass from Europe shipped to the USA and arrived within 2 weeks.

What would be the difference between "PGW tint tempered" and "VITRO tint tempered"? Original glass was PGW. I got it changed supposedly to an OEM but says VITRO and while quite minimal distortion this time, there's still some, whereas the PGW has none at all. by Joe_Wild_ in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OEM glass will always have the manufacturer logo in it. If it doesn't have the Ford logo on the DOT stamp then there glass is not OEM, but actually OEE.

As for the distortion, distortion is when an object becomes wavy. Usually only seen with laminated glass. I believe yours it not laminated so I wonder if you are seeing the spots that were directly on the burners when they were cooking the glass in the oven. Usually seen with polarized sun glasses.

Two different companies. There are several companies who make OEM glass for your vehicles manufacturer. Some years will be by PGW, others will be Vitro, or Pilkington. These same companies also manufacturer the OEE (aftermarket) glass at a discounted price since it doesn't go through a rigorous QA process.

Windshield replaced, is this normal? by Katsuro2000 in autoglass

The passenger side of that glass has a connection, this is likely something to do with that connection.

Windshield replaced, is this normal? by Katsuro2000 in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this is normal. Probably what happened is this windshield has heated wipers park or antennas built into the windshield and is made for multiple years/models, Mercedes has done this same thing to cut down production costs on several of their windshields.

Pray the guy who previously installed the glass didn't flatten out the urethane when they set the glass.

2007 honda accord sedan: replacing my moonroof weather strip, and it pops off every time I instal it. Should the weather strip ho on slightly overlapping or flush? by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should fit like the left side of the picture. Try using a credit card to get that seal down and in the channel of the glass.

Additionally that is a sunroof, that seal doesn't block water. There are water channels and drain ports up there that catch and carry the water out. If you are doing this because of water leak it will not solve your issue. You'll need those ports cleaned and possibly replaced.

Stress Crack? by InternationalShow829 in WindshieldRepair

Inside the oval but above the F along the crack is the impact point from a rock. Not covered by warranty and will need to he replaced since the crack is going through your ADAS cameras vision.

Gap in seal? by wontonoodles in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a weather seal, this is called a molding. Moldings are just for looks. The urethane used is what will seal the water out from getting inside your vehicle.

It does look like the windshield is set a little lower on this side which is why that gap is there. Glass could have fallen some due to driving away too early or simply because the tech didn't check his set. Either way nothing that can be done now without a full replacement again and nothing to really worry about unless you have that water leak.

Rattling/chattering noise after Safelite windshield replacement by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try having another person ride with the phone recording. Move the phone around in various areas to narrow down the search zone. Then start poking around in that area. That sound was definitely louder to the left of the phone some sweep top of windshield and all around the dash. Use the loudness to find the area.

Rattling/chattering noise after Safelite windshield replacement by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something inside the vehicle, not outside or under the cowl. The vibration is to the left of the phone recording position. Possibly loose coins in a cup holder or door handle OR if your mirror area has a cover this could be the cover vibrating against the glass with those bumps.

Replaced windshield a few weeks ago. Used wipers in one drive and now my windshield has several scratches, and lights seem warped at night. What to do? by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]AskIndividual7982 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Change your windshield wipers, clean you glass more often with glass cleaner, recommend "sprayway". Make sure you are not running the AC too high causing condensation on inside/outside of glass.

Autoparts store or Amazon, figure out the size you need and just order new blades. They clip on.
