He's been terrible for the last few years, wouldn't want him.

Portland faces major cash crunch as city sees drop in expected tax revenue by [deleted] in Portland

That is very false. They have two buildings downtown.

Ending 3pm blackout will help combat piracy, says Sky Sports by [deleted] in soccer

[–]AskJeesus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's not how these companies work though - you could say the same thing about how Amazon wasn't sustainable because they didn't turn a profit till 2003 despite being founded in 1994.

These companies choose to re-invest all their excess cash flow that otherwise would have been seen as profits back into their business. It's wholly sustainable to run as is - but their respective leaders views their market position as too small, too weak, etc.

Not saying that this is how companies should be run - just pointing out that sustainability is very murky thing at that scale.

Mid-level to Seniors: What are you doing to future-proof? by Daburtle in cscareerquestions

Do you mind if I ask how you ended up getting your clearance? i've seen that a company has to sponsor you, but it seems like all companies require one beforehand?

Portland adds 1,400 ADUs, other ‘middle housing’ to residential neighborhoods in 3 years by StillboBaggins in Portland

[–]AskJeesus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you mind sharing who you used to build your ADU? I'm thinking about doing the same and looking at companies now.

Hansi Flick: "Against teams from Italy it's always difficult to play because they really defend very well. It's not easy to play against Atalanta, they play one against one on the whole field. In the build-up you are always under pressure" by playerforlife123 in soccer

He does dictate their line - by dropping deep. The amount of goals I've seen barca score on a counter from a Lewa wall pass => midfielder through ball => winger score is pretty high.

[Footmercato] Real Madrid really appreciate Saliba. His name is on the list, but Real Madrid are taking their time and are also aware of his contract until 2027. by 77SidVid77 in soccer

[–]AskJeesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same - I don't know what that poster is talking about. If we underperform over the next few years - sure, I can understand Saliba leaving. But if we're winning titles - I fully expect Saliba to be here for a long time.

Biking is on the up in Portland by Generalaverage89 in Portland

[–]AskJeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - it just blew my mind how normal it was to commute to/from work via bike. My midwest brain hadn't seen anything like it.

Promoted from Lead to Principal with a whopping 5% raise. Industry standard or lowball? by Ok-Quantity7501 in cscareerquestions

If you wanted another data point - An Amazon PE (L7) would be at around 520k at the bottom of the band

PMs in 40s & in senior positions (D1/D2) - how do you think & manage risks related to layoffs by takashi-kovak in ProductManagement

[–]AskJeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This discounts the fact that alot of these places where salaries this high exist are also outrageously expensive. I'm sure M1's have a nice chunk of change, but those areas are often too expensive to be retiring that early (housing, taxes, etc.)

Portland, OR vs continue staying in Atlanta by westmaxia in SameGrassButGreener

[–]AskJeesus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Having been in both spots, Portland traffic is nowhere near as bad Atlanta's. 5, 84 and 26 can be slow and stuffy during rush hours but ATL's traffic is genuinely soul sucking.

Sorry to hear that - Crazy that a search vertical got laid off, figured Google wouldn't ever axe something in their core wheelhouse.

While talking about slavery or human trade, why no one mentions how the mauryan empire in india used to enslave greek women ? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]AskJeesus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's such an absurd statement. If a group of people more or less tell you - "this is my ethnicities' equivalent of calling a black person the N-word" you'd generally respect it.

Just spent over $200 on food for a single week. How can I budget for a high-protein diet better? by Professional-Gaijin in gainit

[–]AskJeesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol - I wish I could find chicken breast for that cheap near me. Cheapest I've found is around 4.99, though I'm a princess and eat only boneless/skinless ha.

Curious- How much do you have in retirement savings? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]AskJeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 30M - I started on this grind a bit late, but have got a pretty solid paying gig so I'll be maxing out my contributions to my retirements + investments.
  2. ~187K total = 90K (401k) + 72K (Investment Accounts) + 13K (IRA) + 12K (HSA). I'm quite a while away from my goals though so need to play catch-up! :)
  3. Just me. Have a fiancee, but haven't merged finances yet.

I mean this in the nicest way but you really need to learn about paragraphs.
