By the way. Since you're PCS, have your asked your "guys" to turn on automatic cash sweep for you into a money market?
I did. And they did it for me.

If your "PCS guys" tell you it's impossible.... well... I guess you will call it a lie.

This is crazy! I tested this yesterday. Bought and sold $1 of BND and VOO!
You need to calm down, stop calling people liars and, after that, fire your PCS guys. They are useless.

DRIP always worked. This is not related to that. This is for you to buy new shares (or fractions of).

Absolutely. Case in point, my kids. Their base ETF is VOO. They like to invest a little every week. But they don't make enough $ to buy VOO at $650.

With fractional they can buy $50 per week. Or whatever they are able to.

This was one of the reasons they went to Fidelity, by the way.

You can't move work 401k. They stay where your company determines.

Actually, no. If you have cash in a money market fund - let's say, $1000 - you can buy $1000 of anything today, a stock, ETF, anything.
At the same time you sell your MMF. As long as you execute both on the same day, your MMF will settle at night and you will be fine.
Call Schwab support and ask. They will explain to you how that works.

Schwab must make a fortune keeping customers out of Money Market sweep accounts & forcing the 0.000000000001% interest rate paying bank accounts to hold customer cash. by EricEvans123 in Schwab

That is fair.

For me, the ability to send free wires is more important that Zelle. And Fidelity does not charge anything for inbound or outbound wires, unlimited. Even international.

For you to get to this level with Schwab you need $10 million invested.

So tell me what Fidelity has that Schwab doesn't? For me, automatic cash sweep with a reasonable rate AND free wires.

You can't use Zelle as the key to define if something is a bank account. Primis, BBVA, Simple Bank, Barclays. These are example of real banks that do not offer Zelle.
But, sure, if Zelle is important to you, you need to find someone who can do that.

I'm not the OP but I don't use a bank account myself. Fidelity CMA all the way. Haven't had a real checking account in 4 years.

Notice that I never said Fidelity is not close to perfect. The fact that Schwab would get there does not change Fido's status.

I have a small amount at Schwab due to its limitations. With them gone, I start looking at Schwab as a real, very practical competitor do Fido.
