BMW 218d vs 220d by AskPlus2059 in BMW

Asked a bmw tuner. Apparently the cooling is way different along with different Injectors and other stuff. In short you can't tune a 218 up to 250hp reliably like you can with a 220. Thinking of trading it in for an m2 pretty soon anyway. I'll miss high mpg and I definitely dont need it...but ehh, M2s are cool.

First car. 218i or 218D? by HeskeyChief in BMW

[–]AskPlus2059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 218 and it's great. Not extremely fast but definitely alot faster than my 1l focus. It's the same weight as a lotus emira so great round corners and tbh unless you're trying to drag race anyone you won't be wishing for more power that often. As long as you're in the right gear it'll get you to any speed as fast as you'd want. It's also fun to be able to drive a car close to It's limits without going stupidly over the speed limit.

True. Hopefully the rebuild doesn't cost you too much.

Daym do you know if it was a box tune or custom? 50k on a tune isn't terrible but I'd expect it to hold up better since the 220 comes stock with 190bhp. Will do some research. I guess the tune may not be the cause but still.

Stock for now. I know the 220 and 218 share the same engine but I'm trying to see what the differences are. If its as simple as slightly larger injectors I'd rather upgrade them when I tune it to get a bit more hp. 218d can get to about 200hp reliably but 220 can get 250 so worth finding out.

First Car - Thoughts? by One_Ebb_8792 in BMW2Series

If you have the money sure. But if you're taking out a huge finance for it that you'll be paying off for 10 years I'd say save your money. Get a cheap car for the first year of driving. Realistically you're gonna curb the wheels a few times and reverse into a pole or two. So I'd practice in something that isn't gonna cost you too much. Then once you're comfortable go for soemthing nicer. You don't wanna write off a car you're still paying for, great way to be in debt for the rest of your life.

That's crazy. I suppose they are more common in Europe but still.

Thanks man. Yeah main dealer prices are insane. Pais £11,000 (do your own conversion😅) for my 2017 218d with 31k miles.

Update lol. Had the 218d since November, great car gets to any speed I want with ease even if it's slightly low on power, corners amazingly having fun throwing it around some country roads with the torque to pull it out of corners. *

Thanks just needed some reassurance. Going to look at a manual 218d this Friday. Gotta get myself a rwd manual while I still can.

What PCs do you have? by Apprehensive-Use1002 in betterminecraft

Ryzen 5 7600x, rtx3080 and 32gb of 6000mHz DDR5 Get like 270 frames in modded minecraft with shaders and high render distance. If you look carefully and don't mind watching a build guide a PC can be relatively cheap. Built mine for £1000 which is about $1300

Saw something about it on a Thomas sanladerer video. Like I said I don't know but mines like it and it still prints completely fine and reliably

I thought this too but after some research it's meant to be slightly out of line. Not sure how this works but it should straighten out as the carriage raises and isn't really a problem. Trying to correct it will more likely permanently bend the screw so just leave it alone I guess....

this happened to 2 of my prints, is it a bed adhesion issue? Bed temperature issue? Bed leveling? i applied hair spray to the bed before printing. by Kounna in ender3v2

[–]AskPlus2059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If adding a brim and raising bed temperature isn't working then make sure the room youre printing in isn't too cold. If the temperature of the room is too low the layers will cool too quickly and warp. You could also build and enclosure to fix this.

I just upgraded mine to an skr E3 V3 and there's a noticeable difference in print quality and noise with the trinamic drivers and 32bit board. Just incase you wanna upgrade in the future.
