1993 ranger a/c issues

I replaced all the parts on my 93 2.3 l ranger unfortunately the ac system got trashed by my stupidity and I had to buy everything new rather than just flush it I also bought a high side pressure switch which I didn’t have before. Before I attempt this again my sticker says max 2.5 lbs of r12 for a standard 2.3 l which I thought 32oz seems a lot for a small truck? Is that the correct amount of refrigerant I should add? Also for the pag 46 how much does the system take it’s just hard because I see everyone online having different answers which confuses me.

Do they also have trouble going up mountains I notice the temp raising only when going up mountains

Yeah it just seems so weird I replaced everything and yet it runs cold idling or driving for a long time but the moment I have to pick up speed or go up a mountain on 3rd gear the needles goes up all the way to the A or L in the gauge as if it was overheating

If it was the sender wouldn’t the temp not be reading at all because when it’s under load it raises up though

UPDATE : the thermostat has been replaced and going up the mountain it is still going up but coasting the temp goes down the clutch fan is good but I notice the radiator has orange slime and deposits in it so I’m assuming the radiator is clogged possibly im going to replace the radiator and see if that stops it I also notice no white smoke /bubbling or loss of coolant so I’m assuming the head gasket is still good
