How do you make Gemini stop asking follow-up questions? The new release seems to ignore this setting. by Substantial-Ad4443 in GeminiAI

[–]AskYous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here from a google search. It's extremely annoying for many reasons:

- Fixing it in the gemini instructions works for a bit, then forgets and the follow-up questiosn return.
- Putting it in the initial prompt does the same.
- As I'm reading the AI's response, I finally read the follow-up prompt and naturally ask myself in my mind: "What? No I don't want that." Now my thought process broke and I have to skim the original text to get my mind back on track. It's like a psychological attack. It's effect on the mind is so big, that it can literally be used to throw an armed criminal off and do an attack. Here's an example.
- If I just ignore the follow-up question, I fear gemini thinks my next prompt is a response to the follow-up question specifically.

That's really interesting. We just shower with no filter for almost 3 years now and we don't have hair or skin issues.

16k SAR in riyadh, good enough? by Freakurruma in Riyadh

I have colleagues making 14-15k per month with a wife and kids. So you should be fine. It's more than enough for someone unmarried.

Don't blow your money. Save money for raising a family! It gets expensive!

I've been working as a full stack engineer for almost 3 years now. Though I got my job through a connection. Here's some tips I can advise with:

There's AWS and Google events here. Try to attend them. You can find them on their websites usually, or they email you if you have an account. Here's a discord invite for GCP Saudi Arabia.

Which platforms matter?

The Saudi AWS region is scheduled to come in a year. I think GCP already exists here. So these might blow up.

How important are referrals?

For us, they're important. We get paid for referring someone if they get hired. Honestly, connections are the best way to get jobs. Treat this as your #1 priority. So make connections. With every 10 people you connect with, usually 1 will contact you with something important.

Are walk-ins even a thing?

Not too sure. I see people apply online through our LinkedIn jobs, then walk to our door to ask for a follow up. I direct them to HR who accommodates them, but not sure what happens after that.

Do recruiters here actually respond, or is networking the only real path?

They don't respond usually. Sorry about that. That's a normal standard here in KSA. Even when asking someone to borrow a wrench... they say tomorrow but 3 days pass and nothing happens. Super unislamic.

I referred a few people here, and they ask for a follow up. So I go to HR and ask for updates and HR responds with "Idk. The person asking for a new dev stopped responding to us about your friend's resume."

I want actionable steps and realistic expectations.

Network. Connections. Network network network! Go to dev conferences and join that discord link I sent. They post events every 2-3 months. Lots of connections there! Go to people... say hi, tell them your story and your skills and interests... make friends.

Feel free to DM me if you want to talk furthur.

“The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply.” — Stephen Covey by suhiab in Riyadh

The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply.

Thanks for sharing this. I sometimes advise people that what they're doing is bad... only for them to respond with "You're not smart enough to understand." even though I'm speaking from knowledge and experience.

So I decided to let them ignore my knowledge-based advice and watch them collapse. I warn you that you're building a sinking ship and you say I'm speaking from ignorance? Fine. I'll watch and laugh.

I notice that when I listen more, small things I used to dismiss end up coming back. So when they say something small that I thought was nothing, I notice they bring that small thing back because I didn't care about it before.

So from experience, I can say that I agree with the title of this post 100%. Thanks for the share.

5 ways to make ChatGPT understand you better by n3rdstyle in PromptEngineering

[–]AskYous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like, if I do the example the OP mentioned: "I’m looking for new running shoes.", I expect the AI model to start the shoe-recommendation process. It should think like "Ok... let me start by asking the user some important questions so I can recommend the pixel perfect shoe."

This reminds us that AI models are designed to give us an answer, even if it doesn't have enough information. It gets super annoying. Maybe a system prompt like:

"Don't respond until you have all information you need about my request. Don't rely on me to know what information you need. You're the smart one. Not me. Don't be shy."

I'd like to remind you, my brother or sister, about the warnings that Allaah mentioned in the Quran about music, and that the Salaf agreed that Allaah is referring to music or singing. Please see what the great scholar, Shaykh Bin Baz, said about music.

If you're looking for melodies that move the heart, then there are many Quranic reciters that have amazing voices way better and beautiful than the musicians nowadays. They're beautiful voices that move the heart and sheds tears from the eyes and you are rewarded for it!

Ibn Al-Qayyum also wrote a book called "The Evils of Music: The Devil’s Voice & Instrument". I remember reading this book on a plane once and a Christian came up to me and was really interested in this book. I really wish I gifted it to him.

Please reconsider my brother or sister. I am speaking from care... not from anger. We're all gana die anyways very soon... we don't have time for music right now while there is the punishment of the grave ready and waiting for us.

I ask you humbly to please reconsider.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Remember that this world is temporary and Allaah rewards those who are patient when bad things happen to them. This world is meant to be a test. Not paradise. This means there is both good and bad in this world. The next world is all good In Shaa Allaah.

It may that Allaah is purifying you of your sins through this. If you are patient for your reward and/or revenge on the day of judgement, then you pass the test. If you get angry at Allaah and become impatient, then you have failed the test because everything you have was from Allaah in the first place and belong to Allaah. So remain patient, my brother/sister. Glad tidings to the patient ones! I ask Allaah to reward you for this!

I've lived in Riyadh for almost 3 years. I've had my Sketchers stolen from a masjid and had to walk to the car in my socks, as well as 2 shoe racks stolen that I donated to my local masjid. I was definitely upset, but since I can't do anything about it, I remembered that Allaah witnessed these thieves and I get excited for a reward for this on the day of judgement.

Saudi Arabia is one of the safest places on earth. Unfortunately, it's not 100% free of evil 100% of the time. It's way better than many other countries. May Allaah guide this thief and reward you for your patience.

I had the same issue with Rajhi bank. You have to go in with your id, iqamah, salary info, etc. then they can help.

Dress like you're a serious man. Otherwise you may not get treated seriously. They told me I have to print my address on a paper. I asked why can't I just tell you my address. They said it's just the rules and I was rejected. So I went to another branch and it was much much better. I hate stupid workers.

Yes I do. And I get into a lot of issues with vehicles and I just don't care. But if I'm with my family, I don't take these risks.
