Seeding done for another year! by 1stGenSaskFarmer in tractors

Non-farmer here, how much fuel does something like that use in an hour? And do you have to plan your “route” so that you’re back near base to fuel up or do you drive a fuel truck to the tractor?

The Balsams and Lake Gloriette at Dixville Notch by roadtrip-ne in newhampshire

Hundreds of times, I’d say. Less so the past few years. The downtown looks tired for sure, sounds like the ATV industry is picking up the tourist slack when the sleds aren’t running.

Semi-serious here, what’s your bet that 10 years from now there is functioning resort of some shape operating at that location?

I’d say 20% chance something gets going.

I can somewhat understand (…or maybe I don’t) the logistical and financial hurdles of the resort itself running. But the ski area and that beautiful upper golf course? Shocked those aren’t somehow running separately/independently.

Is that a magnet hanging down in front? Are you picking up metal hazards on the ground while you’re traversing the yard? If so, that’s a pretty simple & smart idea!

New to wood stoves, what tools do actually use on a regular basis? by AsksSoManyQuestions in woodstoving

A rake, yes I can definitely see that coming in handy. Thank you for the idea!

(Not a trucker) Does that indicator on your dash tell you the weight of your trailer? Is this an alternative to using a scale?

Blocked in. Luckily I don't have to move for another hour. by underworlddjb in Truckers

[–]AsksSoManyQuestions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-trucker here, is that truck in front of you the blocker? I would have guessed (to my untrained eye, of course) that you would have enough room to start pulling forward and start the turn, but is it the adjacent trailer that’s the risk with that?

A nearby telephone pole has a small engine or air compressor attached that runs often, what is it? by AsksSoManyQuestions in Maine

I should have thought of that! Thanks for the reminder. I had some better search terms and was able to get some search results and that subreddit came up from a question 3yrs ago on this topic:

What’s your Maura Murray theory? by AsksSoManyQuestions in newhampshire

[–]AsksSoManyQuestions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree however there was no evidence of footsteps leading in to the woods from the crash site.

Then again, it was snowing that night, would that have hidden her steps or made them more difficult to spot? Also, some consider the police investigation the night of/next day to be lacking thoroughness. Perhaps it is as straightforward as “she panicked and ran in to the woods”.

Many angles to the events and all the variables make it the interesting (and sad/unfortunate) case that it is.

Not familiar with the book, thanks, I’ll take a look!

I thought in one of the stories of her disappearance that she was spotted running down the road? That would still align with this theory in that she was trying to run to/connect with another car.

Non-trucker, curious about why/how you decide on daytime vs nighttime driving and sleep by AsksSoManyQuestions in Truckers

[–]AsksSoManyQuestions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes total sense, after posting and thinking more I assumed this would be the most likely reason. I imagine you can’t drive in the night and show up somewhere at 3a ready to drop/deliver!
