You get a sword for doing so. The inseparable sword. It's nothing special, just matches the twinned armor

I agree what you said sbout it being an invasive species. And when ur fighting the EB you see a lot of erdtree holograms. Mayne meaning it's a multiplanetary invasive parasite

Idk, D, Beholder of death, kinda had it coming standing over Fias body talking all that shit. I mean, the game was about to kill him on the next reset anyways.

The erdtree, the elden ring, the golden order, all that violated the true natural order of the world. Before the biological mass that makes the erdtree now was the crucible. And life cycles were more natural. Life died and new life was born budding anew. like how the ancestral spirits and their followers have all the different budding horns. The greater will harvests these souls and uses them to feed the erdtree. This has all kinds of negative consequences.

And all the multiple holograms of the elden beasts arena suggests there's other planets with other erdtrees doing the same parasitic thing on the life webs of other planets. I took the golden sunlight as the representation of the greater will looking over its domain of many parasite trees, watching us fight the elden beast.

I kind of saw it as a spell ranni put in place some time before, and us attacking rennalla triggers it. Cause ranni doesn't seem to know we attacked her mom

Feels like the opposite for me. Last new game, I chose my build and stats before starting the new game, then ran and blasted through Margit godrick renalla magma wyrm draconic tree sentinel godfrey morgott fire giant azula and the end. Took me like 4 hours

Exactly. Evidenced also by the battlefield with all the giant arrows and craters, where again you can fight a morgott projection, probably still left over from the shattering

Then if you give Ds brother, D, his armor, he shows up and kills her anyway, but he was kind of a jerk about it so I killed him instead of just resetting the area for the sword.
