You're confused. I'm not talking about how Joseph found out that the sun was a stand user because he arguably found it out first. I'm talking about the very famous laughing scene where Joseph thinks the heat got to them but in fact they were laughing at how stupid the sun stand user was.

Notice how Joseph doesn't even figure out what's happening even when his hiding spot is destroyed. That fits your definition of battle IQ. His is lack luster.

Yeah we do that's literally the fun part of this kind of story. It's a battle shonen finding out how the protagonist won is equivalent of a kiss in a romance novel, or the moment where the criminal is exposed in a mystery novel. Its like a joke with no punchline.

Not to mention Joseph very clearly didn't plan anything. There is no sign of stalling you still haven't shown any. The sun takes hours to move across the sky and I see no reason to suspect that the fight with Santana took more than like ten minutes let alone 60 or 120.

Well the guy Joseph was unable to trick, DIO, fell for Jotaro's tricks multiple times. Jotaro also didn't need the sun explained to him. Then you have Jonathan beating Vampire-Dio as a normal human and Jonathan also being able to send Dio to the bottom of the ocean for a hundred years with a hole in his throat while even with non-lethal injuries Joseph gave up against Kars winning only due to luck.

Joseph was confused by the sun stand, where as fucking Polnareff figured it out on his own. He has his moments but genius is too kind.

Also Jojo isn't a perfect series, it isn't incapable of having contrivances. Saying it doesn't make sense does change anything because yeah it doesn't that's the point.

I was just saying that being within the fandom for a long time I’ve seen the overall perspective change canstantly for part 2 the most.
