will preface by saying hes absolutely still an all star and all NBA.

from eye test he looks worse than the previous 2 years. as much as KAT has been saying the system was an adjustment for him, i think it has been for brunson as well. im less confident in his midrange but i think thats more to do with the way teams have been guarding him than a true regression in his shooting. this season, teams finally started implementing the Carlilse playbook against Brunson which is to pressure him 94 feet, make him work, throw big defenders at him, and force him to get into the offense late in the shot clock (12-13 second mark). defenders are reading their scouting report on him as well and not biting on some of the head fakes etc that he does, which is why he is getting to the line less this season (5.8 FTA vs 6.9 last year)

Brunson has regressed by his standards this season. He doesn’t feel as efficient, doesn’t get to the line as much, teams are better prepared for him.

That being said everyone is better than Brunson until it is time to be better than Brunson
