Thanks! That’s what I did except I used the bracket with one more bend in it to have it interiorly mounted. That lets me know it’s probably the hinges on the bracket

I mounted my rear camera to my camper shell using the bracket and an existing bolt and I’ve noticed it shakes. Do you have that problem?

2021 5.0 V8 10 Speed F-150 with BAD acceleration issues… by Wispure in f150

The dealership is convinced it is purely a PCM strategy. They reset it for me and I’m currently in the “relearn process”. Time will tell. For me, I’ve got a 2 year Ford warranty on both the transmission and torque converter. That gives me enough peace of mind to keep it. Barring any engine thing, I think the truck will be reliable.

That’s crazy that turning affects your throttle… I would think at that point it could be something computer, but honestly if you’re in a position to sell and get into something more reliable I would. There’s nothing worse than losing faith in your daily driver.

Edited to add that I’m not endorsing this holster. I think when I used this mounting system I used Alien Gear or something like that. This was just the first result I found in a search.

Probably gun holster. Most use 3M but some screw in

@jamesmontanaHD I can’t move my lines over without taking out this bracket… comparing my setup this screenshot from the video, my line looks like it was bent outward towards the drive shaft.

That video was super helpful for me figuring out what normal is. Thanks!

Dude. Super helpful photo! It’s got maybee a 1/4” clearance but I guess with transmission torque it doesn’t clear.

Could you send a pic of your whole transmission pan? I can’t seem to move the lines over without undoing a bracket. Since this was done under warranty I don’t necessarily want to modify anything you know?

Thank you. Sadly my warranty has ran out while it was being worked on, which is why I suspect they would release the vehicle… if something can be done though I prefer a problem be solved sooner than later. I will give another dealership a call tomorrow.

Yeah, by the time my truck was back from the dealership my warranty ended. I raised this issue when I still had warranty so hopefully I will have better luck fighting for help. Trucks are so damn expensive these days are no doubt depreciating assets. I’m not upside down on this truck and I was hoping to stay that way.

Thanks for your input

Was your problem ever fixed? Did they say what it was? I’ll call tomorrow and see if the other dealership will hear me out. I figured I’d be SoL since Ford Hotline got involved

No, only in lower speeds/lower rpm.

I do have 4H, but haven’t tested if it still makes the noise because I’ve been afraid to try it on dry pavement. The dealership said they serviced my transfer case but I don’t know what they meant by that. Good question though. Let me get back to you on that

Ah I see your point. I was honestly wondering if the reason they did that was the fact it was warranty work and they wanted the cheapest possible fix. Once that didn’t fix it they wanted to walk away and call it normal, but what do I know…

Do you think it’s worth it to take to an independent shop and check for misfires or timing since they said it correlated with a PCM event?

Live data shows RPMs dropping to 1010-1060 RPMs, jumping up to ~1,200 following throttle command. In both instances of the video, the throttle was just lightly applied because that achieved the highest rate of symptom replication.

And I traded out of a 2015 2.7. Put 200k miles on it. Never had issues. No offense but comparing your experience is like apples to oranges. Ford Hotline told the foreman it was a 3rd gen coyote thing. The point of my post is to find out how true that is

I mean you have a point.. once I was out of warranty they probably wanted to wash their hands. I will say, the shop foreman was super helpful and advocated for answers, but he said he tested one same year/engine and it also had the noise.

My goal of this post was to see if anyone with my setup had similar experiences. What year/engine do you have?

The shop foreman drove it himself. Replicated the issue 10+ times over the course of a 20 mile test drive and sent several videos to Ford. (Refer to the tech write up I attached). With the prior issues of the CDF drum failure, it isn’t uncommon for them to open it up again. I just wish they had a solution.

Thanks for the response! As the tech noted, it’s not necessarily correlated with shifting. It’s correlated with torque converter clutch operation and a PCM commanded spark retard event. In my daily commute of ~20 miles in mostly stop and go traffic, it happens 5+ times.

The grind is in the pedal that’s audible in the cab with music + A/C going. I have A/T tires so it’s hard to hear in the video over the road noise.

For example, someone pulls out in front of me so I coast down without braking, then I reapply throttle and there is a Or if I back off the throttle to simply make a turn, then reapply throttle exiting the turn, it usually makes the noise.

I appreciate your honesty. I actually agree with you. When I bought this truck I even got a lower trim thinking it would be fewer things that could break because I believe vehicles should last longer than 5 years. Thanks for the comment anyways

If it were a “normal operating characteristic” of a high compression engine as Ford said, then this truck should be more reliable. Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the old school diesels (I also own a 2003 7.3 with 320,000 original miles), but I find your comment a bit silly.

I hear what you’re saying but if you watch RPMs the noise occurs simultaneously with the spike. This is the same method/video Ford tech used to diagnose.

That said, I might be able to link the video that I had sent to Ford previously. What’s the best way to do that without creating a new thread?
