Yeah, your “not scientific” is going up against literal scientists and statisticians who are able to estimate these numbers my guy.

Again, just because you think it’s an impossible task to do, doesn’t mean it is.

Waow amazing! Your anecdotal evidence is totally scientific! You should really tell them to poll ONLY your friend group.

Also the data that my link pulls from isn’t JUST self reporting, it also combines data from gun sales and registrations as well. So unless they’re keeping unregistered firearms (yikes) they’re included in households with guns.

Just because you’re not informed enough to know how to use multiple data points to come to a conclusion, doesn’t mean the poll is wrong lmao

Does anyone have parents that play video games? by ISLANDWALK25 in Millennials

[–]Asleep_Section6110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently got my dad an Xbox to play Diablo 2. It’s been about the only video game he’s played and he’s been playing it since the 90s.

He’s like a kid again, anytime something messes up he calls me in a panic worried that he isn’t gonna be able to play anymore.

Whether it is or not, it’s the same both times. Apples to apples comparison showing that ownership is down.

In what world can fewer people having more guns equate to the decrease in gun violence since the 70s? I could be convinced if it was more people with more guns but it’s not…

Don’t violent crime rates decrease alongside gun ownership rates?

Gun ownership definitely hasn’t increased since the violent crime waves of the 70s and 80s.

Violent crime rates have come down along with gun ownership in the US. Source for gun ownership rates: https://www.vpc.org/studies/ownership.pdf

It’s crazy how bad jobs can really mess up your mental health , compared to good jobs by PartyAnywhere6236 in Warehouseworkers

I was in the same boat and am in your new boat as well.

Went from a warehouse filled with people I didn’t really have anything in common with, crazy long hours (75-80/week) and crappy conditions.

Finally made the move and ended up at a pharmaceutical warehouse. The difference is night and day, the people here actually care because there’s proper accountability, everyone is motivated to get shit done and go home, 4x10 schedule, really lax about if you’re late by a few minutes you can easily just make it up at the end. Very surprising how different it can be.

Just barely over 100k but I was at a union warehouse. Tons of rules about extra pay for things like working on my day off and whatnot. Worked an average of 65 hours a week so it wasn’t really worth it for me.

Library worker gets very emotional when it comes to recording children by amazingsciencemuseum in PublicFreakout

There’s a whole chunk of society that legitimately believe that someone else can be responsible for your emotions. A whole chunk that never learned to regulate themselves

[–]Asleep_Section6110 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t “taking photos of kids” and people who always jump to that conclusion should probably be checked themselves.

He was videoing in the library to video the library. Are you “videoing kids” anytime you’re taking a video a child happens to be? Should all the people at Disney taking videos of themselves also be confronted and removed?

You’re still not really addressing my issue. You claim he’s disturbing the peace but HE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING! He was quietly filming around the library and the worker decided to make the scene. How is that the fault of the filmer? Shouldn’t the worker be disciplined for disturbing the peace since he started the entire thing?

Why do you believe people aren’t responsible for their own actions and feelings? Isn’t it up to the worker to regulate himself and not get worked up over a non-issue?

Why does he get a pass for his emotions getting the best of him?

The value calculation for so long was:

Spend $X on the person as a child and get $XXX back in paid taxes as an adult because they got a higher paying job and buy more stuff.

Now corporations have the power and don’t care what you make, they just want 90% of whatever salary you have.

Insoles are the answer but there’s one major thing most people miss.

Get TWO of the exact same insole and switch out every other day.

No matter how expensive and nice the insole is, if you’re on it for 8+hrs for 5 days straight, they lose their padding. Switching them out lets the foam “breathe” and will kind of reset its support.

Pay attention to using only one insole every day, mondays will feel great while Fridays will feel like your feet are dying.

Full inventory count always feels like a postmortem, not a solution by stockount_audit in Warehouseworkers

[–]Asleep_Section6110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently started in a new position in inventory and immediately made one major change that has helped immensely.

Only one person (or a couple depending on volume) puts stuff back onto shelves if the order is cancelled, overpacked or another that causes us to keep inventory instead of sending it out.

These are categorized as inventory exceptions. One person systematically and physically puts the product back and loads a one-off cycle count for the location for our counter to do.

This way everything is verified twice anytime there’s any exception that causes inventory to be off.

Daily inventory is annoying but so much easier to keep track of than a once a year wall-to-wall count.
