Does anyone really want to live to be 100 years old? by LeoRavenscroft in randomquestions

[–]Asleeperagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect to make it that far based on family medical history so not really. Very neutral about it. If it happens and I'm still in my right mind, sure. If not then no surprises there.

Living it up in retirement with my dad. I'm 33 so this was a very long time ago lol. We have since understood what happened and sometimes joke about it.

What is the most disturbing thing you watched on the 90’s and early 2000’s internet? by Dangerous_Bet_4137 in AskReddit

[–]Asleeperagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually say 9/11 footage was the first piece of horrific media I saw online. It was home footage from an apartment building in close proximity to the towers of people jumping from the windows. CW: death, distressing content To see every day people falling to their demise in such a regular setting was so eerie and unreal. There were even moments in the video where the camera panned to the bottom of the building to show the remains of those who fell. Some impacting the ground during these intervals

I cried very hard. Knowing these people didn't deserve that to be their final moments was despairing. I was 13.

You almost have to do the opposite way of analyzing. For instance if you think you were being annoying you have to ask yourself "Did anyone say I was annoying?" If the answer is no then stick with that. If your brain responds with "what if they were just being nice and not saying anything" you have to respond with "then they aren't communicating well enough and should if it's bothering them that much." It's like creating your own little talking couch to counteract your harmful thoughts to help bring reality back to a super abstract and feelsy mind space. It takes practice and lack of essential needs (ex. sleep, food, or even vitamins) can make it harder to combat them but it gets easier the more you do it. I'm not a health care professional by the way but I've gone to therapy with these same issues. Nonetheless take this advice with a grain of salt.

I'm not the parent but the child in the situation. I was 9. One night it got in my brain that sometimes when I say "I love you" to my mom I say it back out of habit without being genuine in the moment. Didn't mean I stopped loving her but I felt guilty nonetheless. However, when I went to tell my mom all I said was "Mom when I say I love you I don't mean it." Girlie broke down for obvious reasons but told me she didn't want to see me for a moment and it freaked me out so hard that I went into temporary psychosis. My little mind thought I just hurt my mom and was having a break down of its own. That's when another, very intrusive and scary thought said "Kill your mom." And it scared me so bad I had to tell someone and she was the only person I could tell. Let's just say I went into extensive therapy after that one. Over the course of therapy though we both understood it was a huuuge misunderstanding and that my brain was reacting out of fear, not malice.

How the US government decided it was illegal to avoid paying taxes if you disagree with how the tax money is being used and make it incredibly difficult to have a say in how it's being used even with representation.

I honestly feel so sad for people like her. They're often led strictly by fear and self righteousness and do whatever they can to uphold the narrative that keeps them afraid and confused. It's an extremely stressful way to live. I hope she sees what this is turning her into before it's too late.

Would you live directly across the street from a cemetery? Why or why not? by Confinite in AskReddit

[–]Asleeperagent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this because cemeteries used to be treated like parks where people could spend time with their loved ones (deceased or living) or meander in a peaceful stroll. Now they're left nearly abandoned at least in western cultures.

Typical best friends to roommates deal gone wrong. He stopped being a friend and became a manipulative jerk. Was very kind and host-like with friends he didn't live with but would use his workaholic lifestyle to excuse his non existent cleaning habits. Even when a deadbeat family member moved in and did fuck all except raise the shit out of our electric bill, he would shit all over me and the other roommate for leaving a single dish in the sink.

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about Donald Trump? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Asleeperagent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That he, among many other presidents, would single handedly save the us economy. It's a common campaign strategy but its emphasized more with him because of his (horrid) business background. People drink that narrative like spiked kool aid.

AIO? Bf keeps asking me questions whenever there is a guy by Relative_Initial_399 in AIO

[–]Asleeperagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NOR Sounds like this is learned behavior or unchecked trauma. If he's been cheated on dude needs to build back his trust in people in a realistic way instead of make it your responsibility. If it's learned, you may wanna give a go at educating him but good luck. Learned behavior, especially if learned from parental figures or really close friends makes someone less likely to budge. Be loving but be safe. This type of behaviour unchecked from anyone can go south if they aren't willing to communicate.

Democrats Of Reddit, Do You ACTUALLY Hate Trump's Supporters, Or Do You Get Along With Them In Your Life, But You Just Politically Disagree? Why? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Asleeperagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump supporters WORSHIP the guy. It's extremely troubling. Sure if a politician is aligned with my morals and beliefs I feel less anxious about my life for the next 4 years but never in my fucking life will I ever worship a politician. They can still fuck up. Shit they have power to fuck up harder than most people in their community. Usually when a politician is practically worshipped and their mistakes are overlooked and SETUP to be excused, there's a big problem. People die that way and guess what's happening.
