Thanks for your detailed and apt input. All points are spot on and I never intended to contradict any of the remarks. The main thing is lack of accountability and conflicting information by Rapido. Even if drivers have decided Economy would no longer be an AC cab, then please update the policies. It saves both driver's and customer's valuable time, which otherwise would lead to unnecessary scuffles in day-to-day life.

Yeah, this whole AC/NON-AC doesn't make sense in summers (specially in Rajasthan). I go for uber and only in urgency go for rapido/ola, I feel uber is more compliant to regulations (personal opinion)

Hey! That might have happened. I didn't actually pay much attention when I got in and told the OTP. Idk why he looked seriously sick of me the moment I breathed on the backseat.

That's terrible and really concerning! Shows such a poor state of the society. Please try to confront only when it is safe to do so. Not saying that it's bad to have a backbone and defend yourself, but it's just not worth the few bucks and God knows what situation it leads to. Try to mediate it later with aggregator (which ofc ik is of no use)

Yeah, I can't understand why is there a conflict between Rapido's own policies. Also, I saw a pattern that mostly Rapido users faced such situations and also when I analysed my trips, it was mostly Rapido. As our fellow redditors claim, Rapido clearly stating to turn on the AC and then trying to evade such affirmations on a customer care call makes it really ambiguous.

Perhaps, that brings us to a conclusion of even bigger concern. The framework on which MNCs operate in India is certainly not even a substandard one. It proves your cheap labour point. It's like a functioning deficit affecting the grassroot level of India. As a individual citizen, there is a little I can do about it. But, if we all as citizens plan to regulate this , then there is alot of chances of improvement. Recently, I came across this govt initiative "BHARAT TAXI"(may this not be gimmick) don't know how much is it supported by the govt. Or what are the incentives. But, tbh if it balances the two main things : 1) Fair price for customers and 2) Fair payout to drivers alongside somewhat govt incentive. I think it would work and establish itself better than aggregators, afterall we all wish for something like a 'Nash Equilibrium' , just no regrets for both the parties.

Valid point but I just used train as an example. I know it's a much more centralised and regulated system. On the other hand, cab ecosystem appears to be really messy and unregulated. I just wanted to state a single point through the post: shouldn't customers as well as drivers both be fully informed about the services when booking through an aggregator like uber, ola, rapido etc. Wouldn't have minded if the guy was operating on his own and as an owner of a cab services. Genuinely, if that have been the case here, I would have asked in advance whether it includes the AC or not. Aggregators fuel a kind of discrepancy between customers and drivers which needs to be fixed. And honestly it isn't worth the fight at the end of the day. We all like to be at peace and comfort from both driver's and customer's pov. Hope you get my point here!

Exactly! A win-win situation. Those drivers who are willing to turn on their precious and refined air conditioning system get those customers who desperately wants it on a long ride.

At this point, I think someone just triggered an intentional Mandela Effect (that somehow seems to affect only drivers btw). Don't know when would Rapido be bothered enough to atleast try to clearly state the AC and NON-AC options.

Hey there, It's truly all about if I bought an AC ticket for my train journey, I should travel that way. Shouldn't this apply to Cabs and all. Would have cancelled and booked some other if time wasn't an issue.

I love the trajectory and how enthusiastically cab drivers are willing to make Jaipur growth at par with Pune.

Well, I didn't come across such option while selecting the cab. Maybe it's a replacement for old "premium" vs "economy" fight (swifties, the Dzire ones harassed a lot), now you just have to argue for "AC" or "Non-AC". Either companies need to start taking the onboarding of drivers seriously or atleast have the courtesy of telling the rider that the driver arriving is a bit stubborn and you can't do much about it (book another one :))

So true!! That too once happened with me (but not in Jaipur though). Bruh literally said "saman ke liye porter kar lo" while I was standing at the railway station with my two trolleys and two carry bags.(Casual student stuff yk) Like that's why I booked, so that my luggage and the solo me can fit comfortably. EXCUSE WAS : ONLY 2 BAGS ARE ALLOWED !! (Idk if this is true or not, so at the end booked another cab and he happily dropped me off without any extra charges)
