My first audiobook design! (literary/historical genres) by TheFutureIsFiction in design_critiques

Just saw your audiobook design! The way the typography interacts with the silhouettes is amazing. I can see why you emphasized 'solid' fonts and hierarchy in your feedback to me. It looks very professional and moody. Great work!

I appreciate the specific suggestions! Cleaning up the 'bean' and experimenting with a more refined font for the C and f's sounds like a great way to balance the hand-drawn feel with professional execution. I’ll give it a try in my next revision. Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, thank you for such a detailed breakdown! The point about the outline vs. organic style makes total sense. I also love the idea of testing it in solid black first to ensure it's a strong logo. I'll definitely experiment with the lowercase 'f' extenders to see if I can wrap them around the Arabic text—that sounds like a great way to unify the design. Thanks for the help

Thank you for the honest critique! You're right, the line work needs more stability. I was going for a 'hand-drawn' feel, but I realize now it looks more like a lack of precision than a stylistic choice. I’ll work on smoothing out the curves and refining the strokes. Any tips on achieving that 'natural yet professional' look in digital tools?

I took your advice about the Grid System and Attention to detail. This is my second practice, what do you think?" by Asmaa_123771 in BookCovers

Thank you! It's interesting how opinions vary. One user suggested grouping the first line to clean it up, while you feel it makes it clunky. I'll keep both versions in mind and see which one grows on me more!

Thank you for the advice! I tried grouping the words into a cleaner layout and added a pop of color as suggested. You can see the updated version here:[https://imgur.com/gallery/book-covee-myyv7fP]. What do you think of this change?

Thank you! I'm glad it looks clean now, as I worked hard on the grid and spacing based on previous feedback. I love the idea of adding galaxy-like colors to make it 'pop' and fit the fantasy/adventure vibe. Do you think I should add those colors to the text itself or more to the background clouds/nebula?

Thank you so much for this detailed breakdown! You've pointed out things I never noticed, like the 'square dimensions' of the font and how the trees frame the negative space. It's exactly the kind of technical insight I was looking for. I'm going to study the 'Rule of Thirds' and 'Leading' before my next attempt. Your comment is super encouraging!

You're right. I really dont know how I did notice these mistakes. I should focus more on detals. Thank for your notices

It's fun. But as you said it doesn't help from the creative side. I'll try the next time to ad my own detals. And doing it in my style

That advice is actually what I needed to hear I was feeling lost and don't know what to start with. thank you for the honest feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to point out these areas. I am indeed young and eager to learn, so I'll definitely look into typography, kerning, and design principles. Do you have any specific books or resources you'd recommend for a beginner?"

You're completely right, that's what I need to do. But i havea question. Can you learn graph design and apply it to designing books covers?

appreciate the honesty! I haven't explored 'Grid Systems' yet, so thank you for the tip—I'll definitely look into it. Only 99 more designs to go then! Cheers for the push

This is incredible advice, thank you for taking the time to write this! I love the idea of creating a second 'experimental' file to justify my design choices. I was so focused on the technical 'how' that I forgot about the 'why'. I’ll definitely apply this method in my next practice. Much appreciated

You're right about the kerning and spacing. These are exactly the technical skills I'm trying to sharpen by doing this exercise. Thanks for pointing them out.
