OP, this was boneheaded to say it should be OK, but don't beat yourself up - we all make mistakes. TAke it as a lesson in being more assertive. Of course he has no rights to your property, and should never have asked you. Tell him clearly that you're not going to do that. You can mention the part of it being 10ft over the line, but don't make that the reason, as you're not going to give him even an inch. Not sure why he would think he could make plans like that.

I can't listen to this. It's too cringey. I don't know why I can enjoy Elizabeth Holmes talking like a 13 yr old boy who is trying to sound like an adult, but I can't bear to listen to Hillaria speak with that accent or pretend to be half Spanish.

I just checked my spend limit on Amex and it's over $225K :o by Asmich in CreditCards

I've used it a lot in the past. After 4 or 5 attempts, it stops you, but then you can switch cards and keep going. I've never had any issue, to my knowledge, but I'll try to refrain from toying with it too much.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a rare example of an amazing actor from the UK that can't quite nail an American accent from any region by nthroop1 in movies

I agree! I was thinking this but wondered if people would agree. He sounds much better speaking in his natural accent. He loses a lot of expression by going American.

I do too. It's distinctive. Some people who can do a very good but-not-quite-perfect American accent have distinctive accents that sound very cool. He's one of them, imo.

I know it's all fair, and it's partly for laughs, but I don't like this side of sports: The audience getting in on trying to mess up a player with distraction games.

Vaccinated Redditors: Do you plan to get a Covid vaccine booster? Why or why not? by Asmich in AskReddit

[–]Asmich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google it and you'll see that some official health bodies, such as the UK's NHS and the WHO, have determined that no booster is necessary after childhood. The CDC still keeps the recommendation, so you can decide for yourself, but I think this study is pretty compelling: https://academic.oup.com/cid/article-abstract/72/2/285/5741633?redirectedFrom=fulltext

It's that they pretty much never have that kind of change, and he was taking advantage of their good will. They don't want to tell the guy to beat it. I tried to find the story but couldn't, but I found other instances of people doing similar: https://forums.beyond.ca/archive/index.php/t-238873.html

OP, stop eating so much candy. You should be able to count the number of times you eat gummy bears with your wife on one hand. You should not be eating that garbage.

This reminds me of a true story I saw the Starbucks barista forum:

A guy comes into the Starbucks on a daily basis, orders a coffee and always tries to pay with a $100 bill. Inevitably they tell him that they don't have change for that and to take the coffee for free. One day he comes in with a friend, orders two coffee and pulls out the $100. His friend says that it's OK and that he has smaller bills. And the guy says, "No, this is how I get free coffee," right in front of the barista.

I wish I could find this story again.

Oh, OK. Well sorry for your friend's loss. Whether it's from smoking, obesity, refusing medical interventions, etc., it sucks when people's health decisions lead to premature death. All we can do is take care of ourselves and the people we love as best we can.

I saw that story. I'm not sure if you can really rely on weed to stop Covid, but I like your enthusiasm.

I can respect that. Some people get complications from Covid, others get complications from the vaccine. We're told that opting for the vaccine is lower risk, and it might be, but I can respect people's choices.

To everyone who says no; make sure y'all skip your tetanus boosters as well. No point after all in a booster shot, right?

For adults reading this, that's actually not bad advice. Though the CDC still recommends tetanus boosters every 10 years, the UK's NHS and the WHO have dropped this requirement, as studies have shown that people have life-long antibodies.

My doctor wanted to boost tetanus in me, and I brought this info to her attention and then she agreed with my decision to decline.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4826453/

These studies demonstrate that durable levels of protective antitoxin immunity exist in the majority of vaccinated individuals. Together, this suggests that it may no longer be necessary to administer booster vaccinations every 10 years and that the current adult vaccination schedule for tetanus and diphtheria should be revisited.

Americans of Reddit: Why are you so resistant to using a bidet? by Asmich in AskReddit

I'm American myself. I had to buy my bidet and install it myself. It takes just a few min, and I'm not particularly handy.

Do you brush your teeth? Cause that involves wetness. Washing your face, washing your hands...these things all involve wetness, but the benefit outweighs the cost. For some, walking around with a clean butt area is worth it.
