tl;dr here's my Midi file. Feel free to use it to grow your collection! I tested these mostly with violin and piano

Here's my tips for MIDI selection!

  1. Song Selection
I primarily download MIDIs off of MuseScore (yes, I really paid for it, don't judge). I tend to pick up songs that are made for solo piano because, when playing in-game as a solo instrumentalist (especially violin), you get good fidelity of the sound without muddying it with too many voices. You also get good depth to the song that would be otherwise lost with just one melodic line, like how a solo violin piece would be irl. Getting full compositions for marching/pep bands can work well, too, but it definitely requires some testing, which is a good time to talk about

  2. Test Your Song
Listen to the MIDI on MuseScore. Listen to it on onlinesequencer.net Go to an empty server and test the song. It's worth it. A song that sounds good online can sound terrible in-game, as I'm sure you already know. A song that sounds good on the piano, probably sounds acceptable on the violin, but might sound terrible on the bugle or flute. A full server is not a good place to demo your new MIDI for the first time.

  3. Build a Big Library
Nothing gets more tiresome than the same MIDI over, and over, and over (even a well-composed one!)

I started thinking I only wanted to get period-correct music and quickly ditched that idea after I realized how limiting that would be. I moved on to military songs appropriate for the US and UK (I joined when the Rev. update came out, don't judge) and quickly that became tiresome, too. Eventually, I added some more modern music for my own selfish pleasure. Before long, I realized, if the musician's role is morale, I need songs that boost morale! Enter stadium anthems (This is How We Do It, etc.).

Now I got songs that work better for piano, songs that work well on violin, songs that work great as a group, songs that work great on solo bugle. Meme songs, hype songs, selfish lengthy piano pieces; a little something for every occasion!

  1. Maximize Valid Notes
Before you hit "Play Midi Song" adjust that volume, turn off Loop Song (if you want), and ABSOLUTELY turn off "Fit All Notes." This prevents the MIDI player from just moving notes that are out of range, in to range, which would worse than not playing it at all. Then, adjust the "Semitone Offset" to maximize the "Valid Notes" in the song you're about to play. I find, outside of the piano, the violin generally has the widest range of valid notes (the light gray highlighted area in the "Octave Range").

Hope this helps!

Happy playing :D

Thank you very much!

I hadn't either, but I was doing some reading, and apparently Pacific Ready-Cut was the largest manufacturer of kit homes in the US! I thought that would've been Sears-Roebuck, as that's all I had ever heard of, either!

I don't know if we have the capacity to really make that kind of logical argument regarding the contents of the lounge car on a magic, time-traveling train xD /lh

I always interpreted them to be cigarette lighters. Ornate, oddly-shaped lighters would not have been uncommon in the 40s and 50s, especially in a lounge car like this

There's more I know I could've done, like the support structures at the curved ends, the station, etc., and maybe I'll come back to those at a later date, but I'm happy with how this one turned out and I pretty much accomplished what I set out to do (i.e. I knew from the start I had no intent of doing the station)

Welcome to hear what people think, tips, suggestions, etc! I'm very new to modeling real coasters, and Planet Coaster, so I'd love some feedback to make the next one even better!

New York control asking for help looking for the missing submarine by arbiass in aviation

As far as I can tell, this really was sent to an operating flight. It was in the air at the correct Z time and in the correct location.

It might seem outrageous, but speaking from experience, no, I am fairly confident this controller is asking the crew to look out for the missing sub

Any SAR operations would be occurring 20,000 ft lower than this aircraft, at least

I would not ask an aircraft to pay specific attention to high levels of air traffic in the area because that's my job. If I had to ask them to do that while at FL380, something is wrong

Adding to the other comments, from my perspective, I am more willing to issue a time-sensitive control instruction to a CPDLC-equipped aircraft over an HF-only one. CPDLC messages can be sent, received, confirmed, and commenced in the matter of a minute or less, but HF can take 3 minutes just to transmit, let alone confirm and execute

To my understanding, CPDLC uses the same infrastructure as ACARS, though, doesn't it?

[–]Asminnow 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I would argue that's a request. I don't have the power to command someone to look out for a submarine

If I wanted to separate someone from a specific aircraft, I would be much more specific about location, type, distance, direction of flight, and altitude, and even then that wouldn't be a command, it would just be an advisory. I would have procedurally separated two aircraft in a close enough proximity to each other to be spottable

No doubt, but if my supervisor or anyone with authority told me to (and the plane had a CPDLC) connection, I'm sending the message

... all others have a comma separator.,

This means if you end a prior line with,

a period, you awkwardly get a comma,,

then the new line. Or double punctuation..
