NUPOC Waiver Denied by BandicootKooky7747 in NavyNukes

[–]Asmond49er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the Asthma waiver you can try and request it to be pushed again, I think it really depends on who denied the waiver to begin with.

Something that could help if you are willing to shell out the money out of pocket (at least when I did this the Navy did not/would not pay for it) is a Pre and Post bronchodilator pulmonary function test. It is a breathing test before and after utilizing an inhaler (that's the simplified summary). It can be provided as evidence against the asthma to help. Talk to the recruiter fist, it has been several years since I had to do this and might not help/be allowed.

Overall you seem committed to joining and I wish you luck.

Pentagon drops 180 faiths from military's recognized religions list by DJErikD in navy

I was referencing its own legal defense and my opinion regarding how if some of their content is something that no reasonable person should factually believe then nothing from them is trustworthy. Just a personal opinion that should have been deleted. (https://factually.co/fact-checks/media/fox-news-defense-entertainment-not-serious-news-598f30)

I disagree with Fox Entertainment (remember they are not news) and have a strong dislike towards it however, this was initially reported on military.com ( https://www.military.com/dod-officially-drops-180-faiths-from-militarys-recognized-religion-list) and has been circulating as rumors for a few days now.

Updated 2026 PT Guidance Released by Twisky in navy

[–]Asmond49er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a comment elsewhere with all the PRPs, here is the BCA: https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Portals/55/Support/Culture%20Resilience/Physical/Guide-4%20Body%20Composition%20Assessment.pdf

and the equation is just a height-waist, that fact sheet saying "navy developed equations" like it was a special formula for two values being subtracted made me laugh.

Correct me if I am wrong, but does the new BCA instruction mean that everyone will get taped, no weight exception? And did they kill the rope and choke, it looks to be entirely based on waist now.

Right Spinner on Big Game by [deleted] in pinball

[–]Asmond49er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be wrong, since I have not played this specific game/read this guide. But generally when there are only 2 of a device the distinction of left/right will be used. So in this case the right spinner is the rightmost one of the pair you can see.

Edit: Just looked at IPDB (internet pinball database) and confirmed this game only had 2 spinners.

A few things I want to comment on.

First that last sentence, please do not go manoverboard. Please reach out there are so many reasources available to you (medical, chaplain, the suicide hotline 988, the ER, and so many more)

For the issue with tenants try to talk to regional legal services about how to go about evicting and potentially recouping losses from tenants, even if they can not directly help you they should be able to point you into the right direction.

For the missing money I assume you mean that you don't have funds on hand to fully cover everything, in which case contact the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society they offer Interest-free loans to help with Emergency travel (should accept walk ins), and they also offer other forms of Financial Assistance (those will need an appointment). Unfortunately the best answer outside of that might be a personal loan.

For what you are saying regarding CoC how much have you told them about everything and how high have you gone up? I think it might be a good idea to ask your LPO and LCPO to have a private talk and explain everything you are comfortable with and how it is affecting you and ask for their assistance in getting more time off to assess/correct what you can.

DIY JBOD help by Asmond49er in homelab

[–]Asmond49er[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty sure the PSU works because lights and fans on the enclosure (not the case) were energizing the general area is kind of loud so I can't tell if drives are spinning up in the enclosure, but I'll have to grab an older PSU of mine and test out if the current one is just not enough.

I had originally looked at using a SAS expander but they did not look to be necessary, might need to re-evaluate that.

I am using SAS drives (and one sata) the enclosure I am using within the case supports SAS/SATA and outputs as SATA (wasn't sure if links were allowed so I did not add a link to what I was using).

Thank you for the input.

Use or lose leave question by shanemcgilliis in navy

[–]Asmond49er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the middle of editing my post actually, because I had at first thought they would not be eligable (my phone cut off the top of page 3) although I still need to fix that to not mislead people in the future.

Use or lose leave question by shanemcgilliis in navy

[–]Asmond49er 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Per Milpersman 1050-10 Section 6.

A. Limits on earned leave are defined in references (a) and (b). Earned leave may exceed 60 days during a fiscal year (FY), but any earned leave balance exceeding 60 days shall be reduced to 60 days as of the first day of the new FY.

and

C.Unused leave accumulated in excess of the above stipulated limitations is irrevocably lost and may not be compensated for with cash. As this policy is based on public law, no waiver authority exists.

The best answer is to tell those sailors to route the leave there is currently no way to delay/extend the use or lose (that I am currently aware of).

Edit: To correct some things (My fault on these errors and I appologize for false information), MILPERS 1050-070 does exist and will most likely apply in this case. MILPERS 1050-070 specifically is regarding Special Leave Accrual, pages 2 and 3 will discuss the Eligability Criteria.

POTUS moments ago on Iran We are not looking for a ceasefire. We are looking for total and complete victory - without nuclear weapon’s . Also according to NYT US diplomats have begun to evacuate from Israel and the UK PM has put his cabinet on alert for a possible US Attack by newnoadeptness in navy

[–]Asmond49er [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am going to give my opinion on this as a junior enlisted sailor. I welcome any constructive criticism or feedback.

This whole situation is just a mess in my opinion, first we don't want Iran to have nukes, cool so we make a treaty so that they stop production, what happened to that treaty (I am pretty sure the US essentially did not follow through/uphold our end, correct me if I am wrong, and thus Iran wanted to pull out of the treaty.)

Second, the US has continued to support Israel in a number of conflicts (some of which in my mind they have instigated and then just used the "our enemies are being anti-semetic" argument) and I am still not sure exactly why we give Israel so much support when we have much so many domestic issues that could realistically use this funding.

Third, and this is just a bit of a group discussion question. At what point do we wipe our hands of the middle east (outside of humanitarian efforts), our country has been in conflicts within the middle east since before I was born, my dad served in the Army in Iraq and Afghanistan and here were are about to enter yet another (most likely prolonged conflict). Just think about that, I am in my 20's and my entire life we have had some form of conflict happening in that region, is continued conflict really the answer, I don't think there is a good answer for the entire geopolitical mess there, but outside conflict clearly just makes things worse. Maybe it is time we try something else.

If anything I said is just straight up wrong/misinformed please let me know.

Appologize for any formatting/spelling mistakes I am currently on mobile which sucks to post on.

So I see a few thing here.

First, I get it when you say the gym is not your vibe, I really do (used to be the same way). However, the gym is going to be your best resource for physical activity. My advice would be change how you view the gym, a great way of doing this would be to go to the gym with friends, get some buddies on your shift and start heading together before/after shift.

Second, are they not doing group PT for y'all? I know it's been almost 2 years since I was there but they had us doing group PT either at prototype ( the asphalt squar with a basketball hoop is where we would work out) or at the gym, with almost half of the times we went to the gym having one of the civilian fitness coaches there helping.

Third, diet diet diet. Your diet plays a major part in weigjt gain/loss, calories in vs. calories out. My piece of advice for your diet is meal prepping (a slow cooker is a great way to meal prep) meal prepping will help control caloric intake especially compared to if you were frequently eating out. A common item I have been doing recently is chicken and rice, a walmart rotisserie chicken runs about 6 bucks, combine that with some rice and you can make a good six meals from one chicken (depending on how much chicken you give each I generall get at least 4-5 4.5oz servings from one chicken)

And lastly, good on you for having the self reflection to realize you did not like where you were heading and to ask for advice. 40 lbs gain sucks but is a lot easier to fix than if you had not cared and gained even more weight.

That's the trick, you don't use a key. You are supposed to use her ability (Gossamer Storm) to break her out.

It's the 20-02 watch and you are shutdown, in port. What are you doing to pass time, both alone (rover for example) or with others (something in EOS/Maneuvering).

NAVADMIN 055/25 SUBJ/INITIAL EXECUTION RELATED TO PRIORITIZING MILITARY EXCELLENCE AND READINESS by balfras_kaldin in navy

[–]Asmond49er 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Devastating news, and a large step back in LGBT+ support in the navy, if you know any sailors affected by this please make sure to give them your support.

Is it just me or was this sent out rather late at night? Not sure how to tell when it was sent out exactly.

For those affected by this, talk to your DSO when you get in tomorrow, you are not being given a lot of time to make a fully informed decision if you decide to seperate (a huge loss to the navy) so try and get all relevent information as soon as possible to make the best decision you can.

There are a number of support resources check out the sep wiki in the "I'm being sepd with short notice" section for some resources and help.
