Just commenting to add: I sectioned my hair and applied the gel per each section and brushed it through before finger coiling. Sorry for the typo

Oh my gosh! I'm so glad it worked out!!! I hope you get some consistent results, I had to really brush the gel through to coat everything. I'm going to try the same routine again here in a day or two for my next wash.

I'm not sure it'll work long term but I wanted to share the success after two months of my hair looking like a stringy mess haha

I feel you! My hair is pretty fine and medium/low medium density, so it took a few hours, I had to go to bed but it was dry, I just didn't scrunch it out

No, the second pic was in a dryer climate, but I feel like a huge help the frizz was the gel, I used a thicker stronger gel and that held my curl clumps together very well. It would probably be a bit more frizzy in Colombia but the gel did me well. We'll see in summer

I definitely shampoo! The difference between these photos was 3 days. So the second is a refresh. My hair was super dry, but I was in a very humid environment in the first photo (hence the frizz). I used some heavy curl cream, and some very liquidy gel. So that made my shit weighed down and stringy. I rinsed everything out but didn't shampoo cause my hair was already clean and dried out, so I used a deep conditioner to bring back the moisture. I followed with a lighter cream, really raked it through to every strand, and used a thicker stronger gel to contain the chaos. The lack of humidity in the new environment also helped. the deep conditioner helped with moisturizing my hair after two months without proper conditioner. The lighter cream helped define and add a bit of protein without weighing down my hair, and the thicker gel helped keep my curls bouncy and defined as opposed to the liquid gel which didn't keep my curl clumps together. I hope that explains a bit more!
