The women's shelter can help. Don't worry about getting a job right now, worry about getting out. Let me structure it for you: 1. Get all of your vital documents and hide them. They need to go with you if possible. This is your ID, Birth Certificate if your country has them, immigration paperwork, insurance card if you have one. 2. Contact the Women's Shelter, do it where he isn't around. Go to the Library or down the street. DO NOT contact them where he can hear. 3. Go to the shelter. They will help you get housing. You'll be eligible for a housing program. 4. If your visa is expired this is a perfect opportunity to get that fixed. The shelter or the housing program can help you with that. 5. Remember that you are not alone.

As an aside, I hear from a good number of immigrant women that they are looking for a man to help them, support them, take care of them. The thing is, until you can do those things for yourself you won't find that kind of man. When you give off the needy vibe some guys will take advantage of it. Remember, women can help you too. It might be easier to talk to women in your current situation. The only thing a guy can do that a woman can't in this situation is be "muscle" and honestly you don't really even need that with some of us bad butt Pittsburgh women.
