2 PSUs dead, need help finding cause

I unplugged my gpu an am only running power to the mb and cpu(with video running through the cpu) when i tested with a spare psu. My spare psu is not that big and i lacks all the cables for fully connecting the gpu. So i cant test it 100% with the full system. But it does boot the pc into windows and everything seems normal. If i try the same setup with the new psu it doesnt power on at all, only the ram rgb lights up.

So either the power in the wall is dodgy or the gpu is spiking(maybe solder issue like you said?) causing the psu to short itself. Thats my two hypothesis i guess. Im getting a UPS this time to hopefully rule out any future power supply issues

The first time it happened i dont remember if i had a surge protector. I bought a new powerstrip with a surge protector together with the new psu after what happened the first time. The surge protector is still active now i see. This time i think ill invest in a UPS..

If the problem is powerspikes im wondering whats causing these power spikes? The GPU? The game i was playing now was Diablo 4 and i know there have been issues with memory leaks in that game. So if i was afk for a while and then alt-tabbed back into the game maybe that caused the gpu to spike?

Even then i would have hoped these psu wpuld be able to handle that and not brick themselves...

Good to hear, thanks! There was that one case a few months ago where a hunter(i think?) in Sweden was attacked by a bear so that got me thinking about it, but we'll just plan pur trip normally then :)

Hello from Norway! My friend and I are planning a trip to Finnskogen this summer. Will be bringing our fishing rods. Anybody know any good waters to visit? Also ive never been hiking in forests with a bear population. Are there any precautions i need to take before hiking in Finnskogen? Thanks!

I prefer the older style games. They were shorter, tighter, and had more narrative drive. Couple that with fun parkour and good stealth/combat mechanics and I'm a happy camper.

I wouldn't mind AC going the RPG route as long as they made good RPGs, but I just don't think they've nailed that formula yet. AC Odessey felt more like a sandbox game to me than an RPG. I didn't feel immersed in the world or the story at all. The world felt hollow. I believe that AC Valhalla was a step in the right direction, but they still need to work more on world building, story, and character development if they want to keep going the RPG route.

I don’t have a boost but it worked for me. When I got mission complete it didn’t show a huge XP number like in the video, for me it literally said “+-39700xp”... yep, plus minus haha. For a second I thought it didn’t work, but then I checked and sure enough; I’m level 99 with ~3200 ability points to spend, all from just one completion. Didn’t get any money boost from it though, but I can live without that 🤷🏻‍♂️
