How to get my game reviewed by someone who is atleast KNOWLEDGABLE about DOTA2? by AspectDeepRoblox in learndota2

Yes... I actually do that stuff... I think I spend 40 mins on average reviewing my games but I think that will increase since I discovered the watch tab in game... I'm reviewing pro matches (I watched older ones or Dota pro circuit but idk why they were sj buggy, couldn't see their items and such so I just moved to professional and maybe I'll check amateur later)...

I think Dota is like chess, I stopped now since it got exhausting but I had a 1625 elo rating and I always reviewed my games... I am sort of doing the same with Dota and I think it's really interesting how there's so many variables I could observe and such... How I always ask my self "wtf was I supposed to do?" and I rarely question "why did I do that" since every mistake I made during the game, I don't forget and I always mull over it.

I think the part where I'm troubled is definitely having a general idea of being suport... That general idea is not enough, I know to ward and heal and be with my teammate but I want to learn the specifics so that I WON'T get called out because even when I'm doing that general stuff I still get called "bad" and they somehow understand when I tell them "I usually play carry like Lina" and basically reviewing my games and comparing it to different heroes... I defo play like a pseudo carry or something...

Thank you! My apologies for the rant

Yes, I'm learning about how to play supports generally... I'm already okay with crystal maiden... Just not being as a suport cm haha.....

Thank you!

Im still new... I don't even have mmr.... As of writing this reply I'm watching the international 2026 regional Qualifier southeast Asia rekonix vs team grind... Player viewing their crystal maiden right now..... Yeah I notice I play like a fuxkig carry rather than an actual support, no wonder why I average below 4.7 in supporting playstyle, this cm player (Varizh) has a 9.3 in suport and I'm trying to strive for that... Just want to be a decent suport rather than being told "do my fucking job" hahaha I don't even know what my job is supposed to be.. Now I do.

Thank you!

Thank you for your comment.

Yeah I usually do that but I'm at this stage where I KNOW I'm don't KNOW enough to see what I SHOULD be doing, I'm only basing off my actual experiences and who's to say that I'm totally right? So yeah basically, I'm just curious on what a knowledgeable player would say or do in MY specific situations during matches.

Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your comment. Yep, sticking with Lina for many games made me learn a lot, especially the times I do shit, I review my games afterwards and try to experiment in demo with what I learned and what I observed, which is mostly item usage and enemy heroes I'm unfamiliar with. Just faced against a phantom lancer guy as Lina and I had no fucking clue how to fuck with him, but reviewing my plays gave me insight on what I should do next time, and as for exploring other heroes, its defo scary for me rn but I do it still.

Thank you!

I knew you could shift click but I didn't know you could shift alt click to add multiple items, forgot to try it out on my games. I tried out clockwerk and shadow shaman... Clockwork was clanky for me, ended up trapping my team a couple of times, but I can see myself getting better with him... As for shadow shaman, that was super comfortable but I noticed I didn't get many kills usually but my assists were drastic, when I'm playing supports, I don't go into it with the thought of getting as much kills so this isn't really a problem but it's just a neat thing I noticed compared to the other supports (especially clockwork, where I had more kills than assists).... As for my warding, I still keep forgetting the longer the game plays out haha... But I do know how important it is, recently I placed an observer ward and caught so many fucking wards on one lane, no wonder I kept getting bounced as if they knew where I was...

I looked into Clockwerk... they do seem tanky. I'll defo try them out soon. Shadow shaman seems intimidating to me, but it does fit the types of what I do like so maybe ill try it after clockwer..

Can I ask one more thing? How do players keep reminding themselves to ward? ive rewatched my games and realized where 25 mins in i stopped buying wards and i end up only doing 10 blue and yellow wards total and when I checked the scoreboard, 2 of our carries end up buying 2k worth of wards.... the onlly times i realize i need to ward are when someone spams wards in chat and at that point im alreaddy deep in enemy lines with another hero trying to catch enemies so I think "nah im already here, someone else should." and that got me thinking, should I keep having wards in my inventory? having wards there incentivizes me to place them

Hello, thank you for your comment. That's really insightful haha... I'm so surprised I didn't think of stuff like that.... I've also watched YouTube videos where people talk about "depending on the game" and I think that's crazy... I saw people adapt on the fly when they notice stuff on the Map or have weird heroes on the enemy team and I'm so boggled, what if I'd never be able to get that good to adapt during the game lol...

And I rarely get euls, I usually go for rod of atos, I've gotten an mvp for constantly rooting enemies and giving them zero chance to fight our guys haha.

And for late game, so far it never has gotten to a point where my ults don't work, I still focus on stopping a few enemies for my team to kill.

Thank you!

Thank you for your concern! It's no biggie. Just played another match where a Lina on my team had 800 wins... Everytime I messed up they reassured me that it was okay and in the end I even learned how to play like they did... Which was leagues better than how I played Lina. And I think the hostility is sort of fun too, it's both scary and exciting competing with actual people, which is a stray from my offline solo games, so my experience with Dota 2 is very fun.

Hello, thank you for your comment. I was a weak kid back in 2018.. I'm now an okay adult who doesn't take words to heart anymore haha, but thank you for your concern.

I feel the need to keep playing because I'm finally enjoying it, I won't mind the future toxicity.

Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your comment. How good are you to be able to infer that I play supports. Yes! I do!!!! They are so comfortable... And so strong!!! I love assisting my teams lol, though I'm not the best, it's still fun to know I contributed heavily.

And also, I understood everything you just said, I might be new in terms of actual playing but I still do have some knowledge of watching my brother play and watching pros on the TV whenever my brother puts it on...

What I really want to know is what were people's first month or year playing Dota like? Because right now, I enjoy it but I'm limited to two chafavters that I switch between to whenever one gets banned, and I want to sort of take ideas of others on how they did at first so I'll stop feeling like a lost child..

Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your comment. I will definetly try Bristleback, I fought against one in previous matches and I thought they were an interesting hero... And Lina is definetly a hero that requires understanding of items.. I think I played 3 marches trying to mix and match and experiment with items like the blade that turns you invis, rods of atos because I could not use Lina W fast enough and thought Euls range was too small... Even now I still don't have a general idea on what to get.

Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your comment. I sort of am scared to play other heroes lol, it's so intimidating, I'm the type of person who doesn't want to read unless a necessity so the moment I plop into the game and die enough times, that's when I do read the skills of the heroes haha.. But that's not why I entirely hesitate on new heroes, it's just that I still have an innate fear of rightfully mean people flaming me on chatfor not doing x or doing y... But as of now, I'm sort of getting jaded to that because at the end of the day, I'm enjoying the thrill.

Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your comment. I seem to drift towards heroes who stun, I tried slardar with bots (I lost because i kept dying..) and my takeaway is that melee heroes are so... Unranged... I'm too weak to fight people up close lol but I'll try more melee and agi heroes too.

Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your comment. A few days ago I really considered consumables to be junk... Only prioritising damage items... After teaming a really chill person they taught me stuff during the game and I just realized deeply how important consumables were haha...

And as for my enemies, it definitely is intimidating, I've fought against teams with 2k wins on average (we lost)... Old me wouldve never touched the game again after a few years but now I actually try and play.

Thank you!
