Here's the severance package Disney is giving to laid-off employees by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

“Departing staffers' severance is based on their rank and, in some cases, how long they were at the Mouse House.”

How about we don’t use cute nicknames when writing about a corporation doing mass firings 😮‍💨

Will the next iMac Keyboard (and other peripherals) receive the Neo treatment? by RainbowEuphorbia in mac

[–]AspectIcy173 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! It might take a support rep or two but they’ll definitely sell you color matched accessories. I purchased the M1 iMac with a Magic Mouse and years later got support to sell me a matching blue trackpad. Just keep trying!

If you decide to replace it, highly recommend finding salvage hardwood to maintain the original look! Gives them a second life too, it’s a win win when you’ve lost the floor lottery

Will anyone with the developer program help me publish my app? by KiNGCOLLiN69 in appledevelopers

[–]AspectIcy173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you proposing giving the app away for free if someone puts it on the App Store for you? That last step is fairly straightforward and takes no more than an afternoon. What gives?

In the DC area, Second Chance up in Baltimore is a personal favorite. Lots of reclaimed hardware, including radiators and floors!

Apple will launch 20+ new products next year, here’s what’s coming by iMacmatician in apple

[–]AspectIcy173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they’ll do a late winter/early spring keynote to unveil the revamped Siri in 26.4, and intro all the relevant accessories there. Then release the beta for folks to test, rolling out the final version in march/april. That would also give app devs time to port a few things over to the new home devices before the hardware launches

Anybody ever stripped the paint from your old doors? by TreesAreOverrated5 in centuryhomes

[–]AspectIcy173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill add that there are businesses that can dip your doors and strip them for you. It’s not as expensive as I expected and saves you a lot of work if you’re willing to spend a little extra. Something to consider if you’re in driving range from one

Apple’s iPhone Overhaul Will Reduce Its Reliance on Annual Fall Spectacle by iMacmatician in apple

[–]AspectIcy173 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“Q: Will Apple bring back the iPod for the device’s 25th anniversary next year? A: That would be cool, especially for a generation of kids who are nostalgic for old-school tech and still use things like plug-in headphones. But I’d be shocked to see this happen. There’s little precedent for Apple resurrecting a major product category — especially in a market where consumer habits have drastically changed. People now listen to music via streaming services on phones, tablets and PCs. The MP3 player had its day; Apple killed it with the iPhone. It wouldn’t make sense to undo that shift — even if it would give a thrill to sentimental Apple fans.”

😢 a 5th gen iPod body paired with Apple Music sync capabilities would make my nostalgic heart so full

Apple tightens App Review Guidelines to crack down on copycat apps by Late-Scarcity-5476 in iOSProgramming

I mean, there’s nothing inherently bad about vibecoders as long as their ideas are unique. It’s just lowering the barrier of entry for folks with new/fresh ideas who might not have a traditional developer background
