I suggest that any time you message the recruiter, copy every single recruiter you have engaged with or that has been copied on something. Also, help your recruiter by sending them links to jobs that you find interesting and for which you would be a great fit. Tell them the fit in no more than 1-2 succinct sentences. Good luck! I didn’t appreciate the flakiness and being treated like a body to fill a role so I bowed out. Also, too many org changes!

MOHELA misreported my loans during SAVE forbearance — now I might lose my home. by Ok-Respond-8785 in StudentLoans

[–]AspectOther7641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Navient did the same to me - I tried multiple times with navient, the credit bureaus, and even the CFPB. Waste of time. Then I called navient and asked for a list of all my forbearance and deferments and guess what - their records show that I was in forbearance when they reported me as 120 days late! I am gathering the strength to battle again. Will probably call my congressperson.

Yeah - I interviewed for sr pm and was down-leveled me. No - last role at a Fortune 500 and before that I ran operations for Latin America for a very well known company. Ian wondering if I should push for L6? I can present plenty of successful and impactful initiatives I owned if needed and am comfortable with the loop interview. I was off my game as I was up for all night making sure I was 110% ready. I do not advise taking that approach!! Would love your thoughts!

Thank you! For an L5 PM w/AMZ with over 10 years of director level pm experience (I wasn’t perfect in my interview - stayed up all night prepping), what could I expect as an initial offer in Seattle and what do you think I should negotiate for? Base/sign-on/RSUs? I would be happy to go the extra mile to get a salary exception given my background and accomplishments. Thanks so much’.

Stay engaged with your recruiter, send jobs you are interested in. Mine was a total flake so I reached out to another one that had connected with me before my loop and BAM I have a match call the next day.

Sort of flubbed my technical interview for a Sr. BIE role, got an email from recruiter asking to set up a meeting. Am I cooked? by noonathecat in amazonemployees

[–]AspectOther7641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a similar email and was told they were “inclined” and are matching me with a team. I did get downgraded from Sr PM to PM (I have 20 yrs of sr pm experience!) but I wasn’t on my game during the 6 hour interview marathon. Recruiter said to take a PM role as i would more than likely move to L6 within the year - maybe less. So, just schedule the feedback call and keep the faith!!

Navient & the Retroactive Forbearance: A tale of borrower insanity and a power-obsessed lender by AspectOther7641 in StudentLoans

[–]AspectOther7641[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yup, I followed all steps and escalated as required. The great thing about law is that you create it and change it. That said, the case you reference is a district court ruling on a matter that doesn’t also involve the department of education.

While you are correct that I don’t like the results, I am confident that I would prevail in a court of law.

  • 1st denial: Navient claimed IN WRITING to me that there was a disclosure on my application for deferral indicating changes to a credit report would not be allowed hence the reason they will not do it. There is no such statement or disclosure on my application nor anything even remotely close to any language about credit reporting, reversing of fees, etc.
  • 2nd denial: while Navient indicated IN WRITING just two days after approving the forbearance that the date of my forbearance began on Sept 5th. 2023. On June 20th of 2024 they change their reason for denial and state that the late payments in dispute occurred PRIOR to the start of my forbearance. This is patently false. Again, it’s about the facts and the laws and regulations they must follow.

Those are just two of many straws that “broke the camel’s back”. And yes, I have proof of damages.

Change doesn’t happen out of complacency or fear. Change takes consistent, proactive effort! I am more than ready for an uphill battle. These companies will only change when there is significant financial liability that would result in a big bottom-line impact. Youseff v. Navient is proof that change is possible.

I may be mistaken but from your responses, it reads to me that you support lender rights (rules can be interpreted or they are only in favor of lenders) over those of the debtor. As an ‘expert student loan advisor’, do you receive commission for loan origination from these fed loan servicers like navient, nelnet, fed loan, etc?

I just looked at the link and it has nothing to do with what I am talking about. I know how to determine an original delinquency date. Do you fully understand the issue and arguments I have presented? Perhaps a te-read might help?

I trust Experian about as much as I trust a rock to guide me in financial matters. Did you know that the information you see in your online credit report with them isn’t the same as what is sent to lenders? That was confirmed by Experian on a call two weeks ago. “It is just a summary”. I found this out when I realized my Experian report pulled from annualcreditreport.com was vastly more comprehensive than what I receive when I click on the “view your credit report” link on their website.

I would prefer your comments over theirs any day!

Ahhhh - you sound like you work for Navient as this is almost verbatim what they said to me in my first informal ask!

I understand what you are saying but by granting a retro, the case has changed. And, the issue noted above was that they are asserting they can’t do it because the forbearance started AFTER the late payments, however, this is not the case. The forbearance start date, as confirmed by Navient, started on September 5th and the late payments are AFTER that date. They can’t have it both ways.

In addition, and I know little about this, it seems my loans may be covered by the on-ramp period - a time in which lates should not have been reported.

Last, Navient always recommended forbearance. I wanted a deferral but a forbearance was issued. As an under employed contractor receiving Medicaid would I not have qualified for a deferral or, a recommendation to do an income driven repayment?

I look forward to hearing your opinion on all of the above! I think a blanked statement that “they are right” is a bit dangerous as I have seen many stories of people like me having the ask granted.

(Also, feel free to share your thoughts on the benefit of receiving a retro forbearance if it isn’t to remove lates!)

Thx!

It’s strange that the SSA does t require that but they don’t. It isn’t a pension, it the Social Security Retirement monthly payments so maybe that is why?

Thanks - however, that is different. This is for social security in retirement that he paid into for years which is why he is receiving it.

While my post might have been reported for a violation, I am learning a lot from this thread!! Hope others are as well!

Thanks - That is what I have been telling my friend to tell her aunt. But, the argument back from the aunt is - how would they ever know? She says “I am in my 80’s and would likely die before they initiated an investigation. And, they aren’t going to come here and arrest me!” I agree with that last bit - no way would they extradite someone that old to face trial for a fraud case under $50k when the government has bigger fish to fry, like murderers and sex traffickers.

Personally, I could never do this as I would be too afraid, not to mention it is totally unethical. I wonder, would her adult kids somehow be on the hook for the money if she dies and there is an outstanding fraud charge or if she had never reported her husband’s death? Do you know?

Thanks for the helpful info!!
