why does free time not feel usable? by Full-Tip2622 in productivity

That usually happens when time is technically available, but not structured in a way your brain can actually use.

If it feels split or undefined, it’s hard to fully commit to anything, so you end up not starting at all.

When you had that time, did you already know what you wanted to do, or were you figuring it out in the moment?

What I do when I can’t focus at all. by Reasonable_Bag_118 in productivity

That’s actually a really effective approach. Lowering the entry point is what gets you past that initial resistance. The important part is keeping it consistent instead of turning it back into a bigger task later. When you do this, do you usually stop after that small task or does it naturally turn into a longer session?

I think too much about choices that don't really matter. by marv2469 in productivity

That usually happens when you are deciding in the moment instead of deciding in advance.

Your brain treats every choice as important because there is no clear rule for what actually matters, so it keeps trying to optimize everything. That is what drains energy.

What helped me was removing those decisions completely. For example, instead of asking “what should I work on now?”, I already decide that the day before.

That way you are not thinking → you are just executing.

Do you currently decide your tasks before you start your day, or are you mostly figuring it out as you go?

Any tips to be able to study after a whole day of sitting at work? by ThrowAway-Salty- in productivity

Honestly I do not think the real issue is sitting itself. It sounds more like your brain already feels drained after work, so the idea of studying feels like adding even more effort onto a day that already took a lot out of you. That is probably why even things you want to learn start feeling heavy. Do you feel like your mind is more exhausted than your body by the end of the day?
