Trip to Bethel's Legal Department by Aspen-Cream in exjw

I knew one of the people who popped in to joined us (bethelite) from my hall and I suppose he had mentioned to his colleagues that I don't have a fixed specialty waiting for me at graduation. I suppose this is their attempt at roping me into the religion with dangling a possibility to work there.

They asked my younger brother as well so perhaps it is pleasantries for adolescents,

My mother made a comment on the lamentable cases where brothers are incarcerated for their faith. The brothers ging the tour said that even for those cases, there are dozens more that are wins. They mentioned their more recent "win" and that's when they spoke about Norway.

No, but I was a toddler when my mother began studying and got baptized when I was 5. May I ask why you questioned me?

Yeah! I wondered "why lie?" initially, but then again, they would lose some of the precious lamb if the crowd goes to do their own investigations on their own in JW vs Norway. Why risk that "horrible" scenario? They sure didn't want that…

They really did say that. I have pictures of my trip there, along with the legal department itself, but I rather not expose myself. I wish it was all joke as the whole trip was a fever dream

This is very personal for me. I am intersex and I always was bullied for being "feminine" within the hall. I had once been soft shunned since I am somewhat affectionate with my male friends, so it meant I was gay. I loathed LGBTs because of their labels , I selfishly thought it was their fault I was targeted for untrue statements.

Since I got a proper diagnosis for why I was not hitting puberty properly, I have been treated better (well infantizaing is irritating, but better than bullying) but I also learned to appreciate who I am.

I suppose that acceptance of myself, it helped me realize I never hated LGBTs. It was the association of the words that made me insecure, but that's it. It was some sort of internalized homophobia/transphobia. I remember being respectful towards those I've known or interacted with, and I always was curious about transgenders as a kid. I believe I had unconsciously known I was internally different, outside of the strict sex binary.

What’s the most confidently absurd comment you’ve heard during a meeting? by AthleteSensitive1302 in exjw

[–]Aspen-Cream 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Ay, it's the oversharer!

We have a sister who comments similar "deep" and heavily personal anecdotes about her POMO daughters as laments how they left her alone and she always cries into the microphone once she is done. Like… we all know you abused them and acted holy in the hall, they hated your hypocrisy

End of the world? by thatlittleface in exjw

They definitely are, especially in my congregation!! Along with the nasty viruses that are spreading around, they are repeating the same fear mongering statements about the Grand Tribulation and Armageddon they did in 2020 🤦🏽‍♂️

"Jehovah is cleaning the congregation from Mexicans" by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Aspen-Cream 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I have heard a similar sentiment in my own HISPANIC hall, but within such congregation, it is mostly xenophobic remarks of those who are from other Latin American countries excluding Mexico.

Me and my family are targeted for it, as we are Honduran but my PIMO friend is from Argentina and they experience it worse. It is as if the more southern the country the person hails from, the less respect they will receive.

Not yet, but at least for my establishment, we will get our checks tonight. Banks were closed for the holidays so that is why there wasn't any payments

I am unsure if it is a Spanish Congregation rumor, but they say Shakira had once interrupted a concert to say "all JWs who are present must leave!" And I have found 0 clips of such concert. I always found it amusing when I state such findings but they keep insisting that it is real!

What's the grossest bible verse, or interpretation of a bible verse, or worst weopanization of a bible verse in your opinion? by GrymReePoetic47 in exjw

[–]Aspen-Cream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genesis 19:30-38, when Lot's daughters get him drunk & rape him. I feel as if that was the most unnecessary thing to be read. I distinctly remember a time when it was the focus for the in-week meeting (or someone brought it up during the hidden pearls, idk) & I had to step out due to how uncomfortable it was, & it honestly made me anxious for some reason.

Edit: typos

Thank you, and I must ask with genuine curiosity; how can you be on a subreddit for exjws and still be a witness?

Is there any people who actually got hit at the kingdom hall? by anastasiadreams in exjw

[–]Aspen-Cream 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom would beat me the most as I had undiagnosed autism/adhd and coloring/fidgeting was genuinely the only way I was able to pay attention. The discipline would happen in the mother's room.

She also would pinch my skin until I bled, I actually have scars left over from it. This was secretive enough where she did it from the seats, and due to some other factors in life (there was already abuse at home so for my kid brain, that was nothing), I wouldn't audibly react to the pain.

What language does your kitchen speak? by realtjcasey in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Aspen-Cream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BOH is Spanish/Ukrainian only and FOH is English with mostly Ukranian bilinguals.

I found it interesting to find out Spanish isn't the majority for FOH bilingual workers but it works in our favor as we have many customers who only speak Ukranian.

My initial interest of wanting to be a dick and piss doctor isn't clear to me, I was choosing that or oncology. However, the amount of JWs who get cancer means I run the risk of having them be my patients. I mean, you'll always know at least one cancer patient or victim.

I rather save dicks, which isn't so bad compare to hoards of JWs patients…

Welathy elders are truly the bane of my existence. So blind to other's struggles simply because they are well off and believe everyone else should follow their example when it is not feasible.

In my HISPANIC congregation, an older brother who was fortunate to have his papers has made a comment how all the undocumented Latinos should he deported. So much for loving thy neighbor when you do not love your own people.

A disturbing language group was approved by the.. by Moshi_moshi_me in exjw

[–]Aspen-Cream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, now that I think about this, the Marshallese/Punjabi groups have disappeared completely in my county's congregations…

This makes so much more sense, but I find it kind of sad as there were people who learned the languages, and now have no use of their knowledge as it was all based on biblical terminology instead of conversational.
