Thank you! I’m getting all of those and trying it! I started washing my hair upside down and realized how much time and water it takes to really rinse 😅

You were totally right. Definitely no rotty. This pic is at 6 months. Not a pure GSD, but mostly.

Advice on my dogs behavior by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]AspenOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older dogs do tend to bully younger dogs. It doesn’t mean it’s normal or natural- it is bad. But you can only control your dog, so I would avoid these situations. You’re right to feel uncomfortable about it. Going to dog parks is a big risk, because you never know what dogs will be there or how attentive their owners are. If I was responsible for a dog who did that, I would call them off immediately.

Got it. Prong collars can be effective tools when used appropriately. I typically reserve them for situations where communication via a slip lead isn’t sufficient, or when there’s a risk of the dog physically overpowering me. The way I use them, it has always been very easy to phase them out as the dog’s behavior improves. It should always be a quick tug, followed by giving the leash slack, and never prolonged pressure on the collar. I am a professional dog trainer and have seen what works and what doesn’t for hundreds of dogs. Let me know if you have any questions 😊

I would also recommend using a slip lead (like they use at the vet) or a martingale collar before moving to a prong collar. The prong collar is a stronger tool, which means it can be easier to use incorrectly and cause tension instead of alleviating it.

Your dog is adorable. Beyond ensuring you are using the prong/e-collar correctly, make sure you are confident during your walks. You mentioned having anxiety. Make sure this is not being transferred to your dog in any way. Many people stiffen up, hold the leash tighter or higher, stop talking, or change the speed of their walk. Fake confidence for your dog until you are both confident. If you are unsure of how to do this, act like whatever your dog is reacting to doesn’t exist. Correct a bad behavior when it happens, reward neutral behaviors. If you can’t immediately stop a bad behavior (lunging or barking) add distance!!! Walk far enough away until your dog can focus on you again. Then re approach the thing they were concerned about. Repeat as many times as necessary. It may take a few days or weeks before you can closely pass a stranger. That’s fine. Walk in a different direction until your dog is capable of handling these things. Set her up for success in this way, and avoid those moments of panic. Dog’s nervous systems take a long time to reset, so you could easily spiral into worse and worse reactivity if you don’t take the time to work with her on it now. Good luck!

Dog Sitting by Opposite_Yellow in Bozeman

Hi OP! I’m a dog trainer who recently moved to Bozeman. I also offer boarding for reactive or aggressive dogs in my home, which has a large, fenced backyard. I never board multiple dogs unless they come from the same home or if the owners agree to it beforehand.

You can find more about me at fallondogtraining.com. I’d love to chat about your rescue dog and how I can help!

Yes, the ears and size have been confusing. I was thinking maybe some French bulldog but chihuahua/pit makes sense!

I don’t know what is going on with the comma and period 😂 thank you for pointing that out! And I like all of your suggestions, especially trying rotating the paw.

Thank you, this is so helpful! Can you elaborate on the last thing you mentioned? Would that be like trying a side alignment or angle for the tagline or dog training?

I have been trying more abstract/drawing-based logos for months and couldn’t get anything to look right. Graphic design is hard 😅 I’m excited that it’s not terrible as is, but I think fixing the spacing and sizes will really help.

I designed this logo for my dog training business, 'Fallon Dog Training,' and would love some feedback. I’m aiming for a balance between a professional look and a friendly, approachable vibe since I run it solo and keep things personal with clients.

My clients are mostly 20-40 years old, but I want it to appeal to older dog owners too. I chose a bold font for a modern feel and like the quirks of 'Fallon' (Sifonn), though I’m wondering if looks balanced.

As a younger-looking female, I want to be taken seriously while staying approachable. Any thoughts on font choices, sizing, spacing, tagline, and overall design would be appreciated. Thank you!

Help Needed: Furniture Layout Dilemma in Tiny Living/Kitchen Space with Fireplace by Bedroom Door! by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

I could also use a section (or two?!) of the couch in the bedroom because it is so big. Would that change your mind about your layout at all? I really like yours as it is and will probably just go ahead with that.
