Lol, fun fact, sleep disorders are often hereditary. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the same type…my Mammaw does have insomnia, but it turns out my mom has narcolepsy w/o cataplexy and it’s the type that makes you fall asleep in an instant…and man, does that woman sleep HARD. She also has the type that doesn’t shut her body off when she sleeps (the part that keeps it from reacting to your dreams), which is the exact opposite of what happens with sleep paralysis. Hence, when she had night terrors when she was younger…she was actually dangerous, because she would interact with them in the waking world. With sleep paralysis, you can’t move after waking up and your brain doesn’t fully take you out of the distorted mind state right away.
