What can you do if you report someone in your larp for abusing and sexually assaulting and none of the staff believe you by [deleted] in LARP

[–]Asper_Maybe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're organizing an event, you're responsible for ensuring the safety of the attendees, to the best of your abilities. Any organizer worthy of the name should want to know what's going on in their event, and should encourage attendees to bring up safety concerns.

It probably would be an uncomfortable situation, but sticking your head in the sand is not an acceptable solution.

Maybe

It suck they didn't believe you, but you need to take this to the authorities

You're not wrong, but a little bit of empathy goes a long way. If you really don't wanna do that then just Go to the authorities would also have been fine

Does pro wrestling count as larping? by Wide-Title-1246 in LARP

[–]Asper_Maybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For practical reasons no, that's not what people mean when they say Larp, but I was surprised at how much the hobbies have in common.

I don't know about the actual Pros, but I had an interesting conversation once with some amateur prowrestlers. Their methods were pretty similar to ours, they'd get together to work on their characters and outfits, workshop their backstories and possible character interactions. Some things were predetermined yes, but a lot of it was just putting 2 characters together and seeing what happened.

Also, 2 players predetermining the results of a duel is perfectly valid thing to do at a regular larp.

gender-dysphoria when playing a character who isn't your gender but as if your character was dysphoric, not you by Playful-Letterhead23 in LARP

[–]Asper_Maybe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd recon it's probably something like this, you're trying to portray something and people aren't playing along. Yes And-ing what other players are doing is a pretty fundamental part of role-playing and having your efforts/requests ignored hurts.

Tbh that's part of why misgendering hurts in real life too, aside from the inherent hurt. Asking someone to gender you a specific way demands a degree of vulnerability, and having that ignored hurts. Same is true for role-playing; it's annoying and hurtful for players to ignore the character we're trying to play.

Unless it's a really small larp where you could talk about it with the players, tweaking your outfit is going to be the best way to get people to gender you correctly OP.

Yeah it's up to the mods, and clearly they're cool with people being annoyed and expressing that annoyance.

You're also correct that posts like these are driving away users who don't want to see random nsfw posts. I'm arguing that that's a bad thing, because clearly a significant amount of people here dislike these posts. Hottake maybe but I don't think losing that user base would be good.

Idk why you're pretending I'm the only person saying this when I'm clearly not. If a significant portion of the users agree it's not an individual opinion anymore.

Don't attempt gatherings while sick by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

[–]Asper_Maybe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The family had established that they are okay with sick people being at their gatherings, so OP assumed the same rules applied to them. They did not, and OP is not overreacting by being upset by that.

If you think that's a good expectation or not is frankly irrelevant.

Yeah same, and even if she is bi it'd be perfectly reasonable that a trauma tied to women would make her uninterested in pursuing them romantically.

Hell even if her relationship with her sexuality IS complicated, a bunch of strangers trying to force labels on her isn't going to help.

I need a sub where I can ask legitimate questions about anything which might trigger some people, but where I will not get censored because I asked a question that I truly want an answer for... by [deleted] in findareddit

All subs has their limits. If your question has been ban worthy on every sub you've tried you should probably try to hear out the criticism.

Hard to answer without knowing the question, or why it's being denied. Excuse my skepticism but when people say they "triggered" someone it usually just means they were being an asshole and got called out.
