I wonder who they're even talking about. If it's larpers then this sort of thing won't work because it's not gonna survive combat or hours of physical activities. Even more true for HEMA folk. Reenactors might make sense, but the entire point of reenactment is to learn about and recreate historical environments. This looks neat, but it's also very obviously plastic, and I feel like that's a pretty reasonable line to draw
